Tutors are a guide and mentor for students. Tutors help students achieve their goal without any expectations, whether students have scored something high or low, the important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to keep them motivated, uplifting them from any anxieties and stresses. For I believe that creating a bond between a student…

Giving the best for her students and listening them actively to understand their learning style and guide them towards their goals. My nature of never giving up on the concept and easy recognition of my student’s change in body language, voice that make me aware that they didn’t understand the concepts and I’ll never move to next one until I…

I think tutors that are able to really connect with and understand their students are ones who have students that really engage in meaningful discussion with their tutors and are therefore able to get the most of their experience with them. Giving guidance and bringing out each students' potential and interests in certain topics or subjects is a…

The most important thing sometimes is just listening to my student, what they really want to improve or what struggles that they approach in school, thus I can figure out the optimal way to support them not only in the study but also the mental health I always work with best effort and high responsibility, I always try to find the best solution…

Studying techniques, creating good habits and of course, feedback for improvements! These are the important aspects that a chemistry tutor should show their students. There is much more to learning than parroting back facts - information needs to absorbed, regurgitated, reused in a practical sense. I have much hands-on experience in using my…

There are a lot of things that can be considered important while tutoring a student. The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to find their strengths and abilities in the subjects they are struggling with. This will help them in improving academically and increase their interpersonal skills as this will encourage them in…

I believe the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to ensure that they understand what they are learning instead of providing them with the answer. It is often the case when explaining something to a student and they say they understand, however it is clear they do not. Being persistent and patient with students is far…

One of the most important things a teacher can do for their student is to listen. Not to listen to think of the next response but to listen to understand. I believe as a teacher listening specifically to WHAT the student is asking not HOW they are asking it is one of the most valuable and important skills I've learned to develop. When a student is…

Education can be extremely enjoyable but, understandably, if students cannot grasp concepts and ideas, they quickly lose interest. I believe the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to show their students that learning can actually be fun by teaching them about new ways of thinking. This, in turn, would help them engage in the content…

In my opinion, the most important things a chemistry tutor can do for a student is believing in the students and their ability to succeed, thus, of course not only me but my students will never give up on themselves but be more motivated to become better and better everyday. I think that a chemistry tutor can help a student in every way. A tutor can allow the student to develop socially, mentally and philosophically. I think i can understand a student's mindset. The most important things a tutor can do is to guide students to be able to learn and figure out problems themselves. Inside HillsideTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Stefan focused on ordering decimals from largest to smallest and explored decimal place value using hands-on number line activities.

In Year 9, Alice tackled Pythagoras' theorem in right-angled triangles and practiced simplifying algebraic expressions involving indices, reinforcing concepts with worked examples.

For Year 12, Chatwell discussed plans for her final year and received support on General Mathematics content, including a few targeted questions and guidance on upcoming Business Management materials.

Recent Challenges

Several secondary students showed difficulty organizing their written work in mathematics, particularly with algebra and calculus.

For example, one Year 11 student omitted intermediate steps when simplifying fractions, leading to arithmetic errors—"as a tutor noted, he didn't separate the numerator's terms before dividing by h."

In VCE exam practice, another student's performance dropped under time pressure; missing final answers or not boxing them made solutions unclear to assessors.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student frequently confused (x,y) for (y,x) in coordinate geometry tasks, causing repeated mix-ups during reflections. These habits resulted in avoidable mistakes and extra time spent clarifying working.

Recent Achievements

One Hillside tutor recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to hesitate asking for help now clearly identifies when she's stuck and actively seeks guidance, especially with paragraph structure in English.

In Year 12 maths, another student began tackling calculus problems independently—last week, he solved a tricky differentiation question on his own after only needing a reminder about the product rule.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student has started correcting her own mistakes during multiplication exercises without prompting, showing much more persistence than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Yes we are very happy with Jacinta. She is lovely and Emily likes her. She seems to be very suited to Emily, as she has a very practical approach to helping Emily with her Math's, and understood straight away what Emily's basic needs were. We look forward to Jacinta tutoring Emily this year.

The tutoring with Alex is going very well - Sophie is enjoying it and learning too!

MIchael has enjoyed Nathan's tutoring sessions. My son found Nathan's theory far more informative and much clearer then his current maths teacher. Michael connected well with Nathan.

Chemistry tutoring in Hillside

Why would you ever need to know about combustion, corrosion, and electrochemical processes? Most students wonder about that too, especially if they don't plan on going into science.

Chemistry can seem abstract, learning about elements and matter, how equilibrium occurs and how chemical systems react. No wonder students get discouraged.

Chemistry Tutor Hillside

All it takes for a student to go from a mild distaste for chemistry to understanding what is scribbled in the textbook is someone to point out what to avoid and where to put in that extra hour of revision. It's like with any problem situation in schooling and even in their personal life, students need to know about using effective strategies. Then all you need is persistence, staying on task until you reach your goal.

If your child is struggling in school, chances are you've already thought about finding a tutor. Be it passing a test, getting your child’s grade up or preparing for a career in science, we work with local Hillside chemistry tutors who can get your child to stand on their own two feet. This is how we do it.

We organise one-on-one lessons at your home, at a time that fits your schedule. There are no hidden fees, just a simple hourly rate.

Not happy with the first lesson? No need to worry, it comes as a risk-free trial and we find you another local chemistry tutor in Hillside who is a better match.
