pathetic: Understands what it’s like to be a student who may lack confidence, feel stressed, be overwhelmed or just not understand the material. Honest: Don’t hesitate to say that you do not know about a particular concept. Trying to bluff your way through will only hurt the student and your reputation in the long run. Enthusiastic:…

It is vital to have patience, sympathy, and empathy with students who are struggling to understand the topic at hand. It is also imperative for myself to revise over the content days prior to the tutoring session and prepare notes and example problems to demonstrate to the student. I must also know what the current student's strengths and…

Adaptability – every student is different. For many reasons some students perform better than others. Ability to involve with students and understanding where they are lacking would allow me as a tutor to teach the building blocks of learning. This is in line with the hope that most students keep on a tutor or a teacher that can enhance their…

Tutor can guide the student effectively. Tutoring doesn’t mean delivering lecture and completing the curriculum. It is responsible for holistic development of the pupils. Most important a teacher can do is to check the students individual growth and planning for the same. I have more than 4 years of teaching experience. I have taught formally as…

Explaining the concepts clearly and easily along with appropriate examples are the must for a tutor. But, more importantly, a tutor should help students cultivate good habits like hard work, discipline, confidence, time management etc. By doing so, a student not only grows academically but also personally. And this can help them in the future. I…

In my perspective, the most important things a tutor can do for a student are as follows: 1.Create a positive and supportive learning environment. 2.The tutor should collaborate with the student to set clear and achievable learning objectives. 3. When teaching complex subjects, tutors should break down information into smaller, more digestible…

Offering emotional support along with academic guidance can significantly impact a student's willingness to engage with the subject matter. I…

Increase the motivation for students would be the most important thing for a tutor can do. Without motivation, a student will not learn himself/herself. A tutor can inspire the students and also make them love a subject/ topic. They can boost their confidence in what they learn. I think I have the high amount of patience required to repeat oneself until the student comprehends a new concept. I also find it easy to connect to the other and stop from burdening a student with too much information.…

Being willing to help, but also acknowledge the rare instances where a tutor may be unable to help to a confident level. I believe it is better to acknowledge if you do not know something rather than pretend you do and risk teaching something that is incorrect. When this problem is encountered, however, it is up to the tutor to rectify this by…

Local Reviews

Easy to get started, no waiting. We did need to change tutors which wasn't an issue. We now have a great match. Highly recommend the one to one tutoring.
Nicole, Hoppers Crossing

Inside Hoppers CrossingTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Luke focused on probability concepts, reviewing key terms and working through practice questions to prepare for an upcoming test.

In Year 10, Jasmine worked on solving quadratic equations by factorisation and explored how to use the turning point form when graphing quadratics.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student revised chemical equilibrium in Chemistry, concentrating on dynamic equilibrium, calculating equilibrium constants, and applying Le Chatelier's Principle to predict system changes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student forgot her textbook for two sessions, making it difficult to reference worked examples during algebra revision—her tutor noted, "being more organised, such as bringing the textbook," would help.

In Year 12 Chemistry, one student repeatedly checked notes for basic formula recall instead of committing them to memory; this slowed progress when interpreting NMR spectra.

A Year 7 student only practiced familiar types of fraction problems and hesitated to attempt mixed or challenging questions alone, relying on prompts rather than independent effort. The result: practice time is less effective and confidence with unfamiliar material remains low.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Hoppers Crossing noticed that **Mila came prepared with her own challenging questions** for several sessions—a big shift from when she used to wait for the tutor's guidance.

In Year 11 Chemistry, one student who previously hesitated to ask for help now **reads problem statements aloud and approaches both the tutor and his teacher when stuck**, instead of staying silent.

Meanwhile, Gail in Year 10 Maths had struggled with turning points but can now **find x and y coordinates independently**; last week she even started factorising without prompts.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Jessica and Mohamed had a great start and I think Mohamed is doing a good job getting to know Jessica. I'm pleased with his teaching style and method.

Evangeline is lovely. She is very patient with Steph and takes the time to explain things quite clearly to her. After Evangeline has been, Steph is very happy and excited that she has learned something new.

Jane is great. She is easy to talk to and seems very keen to help Tanner. Tanner also likes her and he already seems to have learnt things from her and is remembering it. While kids generally don't like any form of school work, Tanner seems to enjoy being tutored by Jane. She makes things fun for him.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wyndham City Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Woodville Primary School.
