i believe a maths tutor has to have a solid understanding of all content to provide the best support to a student, has to be patient, must know a range of way to approach a question, and must be readily available to answer questions through online or in person, and a tutor should be friendly and willing to have fun with the lesson so as it doesn't…

The most important part of a maths tutor's job is to encourage the student and to also recognise any signs in the student that they may not understand what is being taught to them. Many children are shy when admitting that they don't completely comprehend a subject and it is important to let them know that they can share their insecurities within…

As a high school leaver, I consider providing support and trust as well as accurate academic knowledge to be the most important thing that a maths tutor can do for a student. Students do have teachers at school, therefore, the job of a tutor is to revise and trigger the knowledge of students, letting them realise their potential. I have physical…

Most important would definitely be effort towards a student. It is crucial to assist students in understanding why they need to understand those subjects and what benefits have we gained by learning and applying that…

Help them understand the concepts that they may miss in school. Sometimes, a class can move to fast for the students, which causes them to either fall behind, or skip some important concepts/lessons. A tutor can make sure that the student doesn't fall behind, because if they do, they are likely to become uninterested and give up. A tutor can also…

Inside Horsley ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jay worked through collecting like terms and expanding algebraic expressions, using step-by-step examples to reinforce these new skills.

In Year 10, Emily focused on probability, tackling tree diagrams and interpreting fractions within probability scenarios.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Lucas reviewed key concepts in Chemistry Module 7 by exploring different types of alcohols and esters, followed by HSC-style practice questions for deeper understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student showed hesitancy in answering maths questions, asking "is this a trick question?" and missing opportunities to build confidence. This uncertainty led to checking answers less often, with small errors slipping through.

In Year 8 science, one learner's notes were spread across multiple books—making it hard to review and consolidate key ideas efficiently.

For a Year 7 student, skipping working out in algebra meant that sign errors went unnoticed; as noted, "failed to recognise where mistakes went wrong due to the lack of working out." Time was then lost retracing steps instead of moving forward confidently.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Horsley Park noticed a big change with one Year 11 student who, after struggling to ask for help before, now regularly asks questions when stuck and even explains her own thought process aloud—something she hadn't done in earlier sessions.

A Year 9 boy recently began attempting tricky probability homework on his own before asking for guidance, showing real initiative instead of waiting for answers.

In Year 5, a student who was previously hesitant with multiplication has started tackling new problems independently and finished all assigned questions early this week without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We chose EzyMath Tutoring as that is the subject our daughter  most needed help with, and we decided to pick specialists in this subject over other tutors who seemed to do everything.  Our tutor Emma, was a uni student, very professional, friendly, she worked very well with our daughter.  Emma had lots of great tricks and tips for Madison to use in her studying and test-taking, broke some things down so they didn't seem so scary or overwhelming to our daughter.  Madison was much more confident in math class, homework was easier, she was more confident in taking exams.  It meant a lot to Madison and us, a lot less stress at home when it wasn't my husband or I trying to teach her with all the emotions that tend to go along with that.  I would recommend EzyMath tutoring to anyone looking to improve their math skills.

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes I am very happy with Sean, he has worked with Machlin through some difficult times and nothing has been a problem for Sean.

Thanks for asking So far so good Michael is great. Kane seems to be quite happy

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wetherill Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Marion Catholic Primary School.
