Inside Jaspers BrushTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Imran practised solving two-step equations and built confidence with basic algebraic factorising.

In Year 10, Sophie worked on graphing linear equations from worded problems and applied trigonometric ratios to solve for unknown side lengths using right-angled triangles.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Alex focused on understanding the ambiguous case of the Sine Rule and tackled exam-style questions involving transformations of trigonometric graphs.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student tackling linear equations showed a tendency to format working inconsistently—steps were not always aligned, making errors hard to spot in rearrangement problems.

"He sometimes forgot to include units or structure answers line by line," a tutor observed, which slowed checking and review.

In Year 11, a student practicing HSC finance questions often skimmed multi-step prompts without highlighting key details; this led to confusion about what calculations were required for full marks.

A senior student preparing for Networks found it challenging to keep track of all definitions and rules, resulting in hesitation during timed practice questions.

Recent Achievements

One Jaspers Brush tutor noticed Andrea, a Year 12 student, making a real shift in her approach—after struggling with exam mistakes, she now pinpoints where she went wrong and explains why a new method works better.

Laaibah in Year 11 has started showing all her working for ratio problems rather than skipping steps like before, which is helping her solve trickier questions independently.

In Year 4, Isaak used to get stuck on area and perimeter tasks but can now handle both 2D and 3D shapes with ease; last week he solved every problem on his own without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We had been looking for a Maths tutor for my son for the HSC for some time with very limited success. Companies would indicate they were able to supply a tutor but when push came to shove there was either no one available or the booked tutor never showed up. In desperation I spoke to a friend who I knew had a tutor for her son. She recommended Ezy Math and indicated she was extremely happy with her son's tutor Faraz. Ezy Math were easy to get on to and able to find me a tutor for my son almost straight away. I was really pleased to be advised that the tutor was Faraz whom I had already heard good things about. Faraz contacted me and we were able to organise a suitable time. Faraz has done a fantastic job keeping my son motivated and on track. The point of the sessions for us was guided revision and to consolidate the learning that was happening in the classroom. Faraz was calm and patient and able to keep my son focussed. My son has indicated he felt the sessions were extremely useful, and really helped him to pull together what he needed for the exams. Feedback reports sent monthly let me know that Faraz felt things were on track and where improvement was needed. Invoicing and payment was easy and no fuss via the website. All in all I have been really pleased with Ezy Math and so has my son.

Lucy is wonderful. Dominique is participating well in the sessions and covering areas I feel she requires assistance in.

Things are going well. Chris is doing a very good job. Since the tutoring sessions, my daughter seems to be more positive and has stated that Chris is explaining the work well, which makes it easier to understand. I am confident that this was the right decision and can't wait to see the results.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nowra (Central) Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Berry Public School.
