Is create a comfortable and enjoyable space to study in. I used to be tutored in my senior years, and my favourite part about going to tutoring was that I had created a friendship with my tutor and that made doing my assignments a lot more enjoyable. Being able to listen to your students as well because what’s written as a question on paper…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to inspire and encourage them to take charge in their learning and step outside their comfortable zones to learn new things and expand their horizons. This encourages students to become independent lifelong learners and creates a positive attitude towards learning. My strengths as a tutor…

Inside JoynerTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Tasha worked on understanding surface area and reviewed key exam topics using practical examples.

In Year 10, Ava focused on trigonometric functions and tackled related textbook questions to consolidate her skills.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Zoe practiced calculus techniques by working through differentiation and integration problems, applying them to real-world scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student, when unsure how to proceed with a maths problem, often gave up and immediately asked for help; this meant less time spent building confidence through independent attempts. As one tutor noted, "she can improve her confidence over time to become more independent."

In Year 10, another student's revision was limited by waiting for the school to cover topics before engaging fully—resulting in unfinished word problems ahead of tests.

For a Year 11 assignment, guessing equations without understanding led to wasted effort rather than strategic practice with formulas, making assignments feel harder than necessary.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Joyner recently noticed a big shift with Kiana (Year 11), who at first hesitated on negative indices but, after some guided practice, was independently solving those questions quickly and accurately by the lesson's end.

In Year 10, Clancey started off unsure about trigonometric functions but gradually worked through his uncertainty—by the close of the session, he was confidently answering problems solo without prompting.

Meanwhile, Sophia (Year 3) has become much more accurate counting coins since switching to hands-on activities; she now finishes her worksheets unaided using real coins and rarely asks for help checking her answers.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mollie is fantastic. Annabel really likes her and she's readily available for extra sessions.

Louisa is very pleased with Stella. She is a very conscientious and capable tutor. Thank you!

Dianna has been happy so far with Amy's approach, methodology and personality. It's a bit early to expect any result with regards to her improvement. I'm sure with Amy's help, Dianna will be able to boost her confidence before the high school.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Strathpine Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Genesis Christian College.
