Science Tutor Gawler East, SA
The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to listen to their concerns and also find the gaps in knowledge they have to be able to work with them and focus on helping to learn what they are struggling with to help them through their education. The strengths I have as a tutor are that if I do not know the answer to something, I would…

Science Tutor Hewett, SA
The most important thing is for a tutor to help a student understand the concepts, rather than giving them answers, to help them towards understanding the work independently. I consider myself to be patient with my students as they learn at their own speeds, while providing them with the path to find the answer…

Important things a tutor can do for a student is simply to believe in them and to encourage them when they start feeling disparaged. I believe I have great patience when it comes to tutoring and I can break concepts down…

Alex engaged well with Nico on their first session. I think he is suitable for my son.

Inside KalbeebaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alice practised subtraction using the borrowing method and worked on converting fractions to a common denominator, while also starting two-digit multiplication.

In Year 8, Alyssa focused on interpreting worded questions involving perimeters and decimals, as well as reviewing fractions modules from her Maths Pathways class.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Olivia tackled exam revision for SACE Maths Methods by working through practice exam questions and consolidating skills in algebraic translations and rotations.

Recent Challenges

One Year 4 student repeatedly did not complete times tables homework, and "still relied heavily on fingers" for basic arithmetic—this meant lesson time was often spent reviewing the same foundational material rather than progressing.

In Year 11, another student's revision focused mostly on routine calculus questions; as noted, "she aces the basics," but tended to avoid tackling more challenging problems with converging values or higher-level reasoning.

A TAFE student struggled to recall methods after gaps between lessons, with feedback showing that "long breaks led to lost progress and confusion about processes." Missed opportunities to practice independently made it harder to retain new concepts.

Recent Achievements

Jasmine, a Year 10 student in Kalbeeba, has started tackling challenging negative number problems independently. Last term she hesitated to attempt these without prompting.

In Year 12 maths, Elysia has become more proactive about her learning: she now requests specific revision topics like BODMAS and builds her own step-by-step cheat sheets during sessions. This marks a big shift from previously working through problems passively or getting overwhelmed by multi-step questions.

Meanwhile, Jai in Year 3 recently showed off his skip counting by 3s using pavers outside, after struggling with this last month. He even explained the pattern he noticed after reaching 30.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Everything going well at the moment, no issues and Michael is an extremely patient and competent tutor. Alex is enjoying the sessions and appears to be moving forward.

So far so good with Amelia - she has always been punctual, professional and friendly and Mila feels comfortable with her.

I decided to work  for Ezy Math Tutoring because it seemed very flexible and would fit in very well with my university schedule. At first, I was only expecting to learn a bit about being a good communicator and be able to engage people but it was a lot more than that. The real highlight for me was that no matter the ability of the child you are teaching, the minute that they start to improve and get better grades, that is THE best reward you can get. My biggest highlight was when one of my students who had just finished his HSC told me that he got a whole 20 marks higher than he was expecting at first for his Maths exam and he thanked me for my time. I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to potential customers who want personalised help for their child and being assigned a tutor who cared as much as I did for my students to achieve their potential. As for potential tutors, this experience is so rewarding because you really do care for your students' progress and you develop skills that will help you for life.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Gawler Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Gawler East Primary School.
