English Tutor Westcourt, QLD
I personally believe that for an english tutor to be effective, they have to be willing to listen to, and learn from, the individual that they are working with. There is always more than one way to teach a specific skill, and, as a result of this, it is important to work together to find the most effective methods. I think that it is important to…

Local Reviews

My son has gotten off to a great start with Alex, he is lovely. My son feels comfortable talking to Alex and following his instructions. He said he likes the way he touches base with him as they go through each topic and asks if he has understood what they have just studied. Alex has been very professional and asked for information as to what my son is studying and asks what he needs at the beginning of each lesson.

Inside KanimblaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Will worked on converting between 12- and 24-hour time as well as subtraction with decimals.

In Year 8, Layla focused on calculating wages and applying Pythagoras' theorem using practice questions and diagrams.

For a Year 9 student, Sophia, recent lessons covered simplifying index laws and factorising algebraic equations, with extra emphasis on revising key skills from her school test.

Recent Challenges

A Year 7 student repeatedly forgot to bring necessary materials, once losing a homework sheet and having to redo tasks instead of moving forward.

In Year 9, one learner "didn't complete assigned study questions," which left gaps when revising pattern recognition and formula recall.

A senior student in Year 11 missed multiple homework assignments; as noted, "she was not able to complete the HW given during the previous lesson," leading to less confidence with algebraic sign changes.

Another struggled with formatting and layout in basic maths, making their working hard to follow and increasing time spent clarifying steps rather than consolidating skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kanimbla noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after struggling to work independently, began completing complex textbook questions on her own and even applied feedback from her teacher to improve an assignment without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student who used to need step-by-step guidance brought her own revision materials to tutoring for the first time and asked targeted questions about test preparation.

In primary sessions, one younger learner who previously hesitated during division tasks started tackling problems solo and checked her answers before moving on.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Hayden is really gelling with Rohan and after last weeks session he said “best hour I've spent all week”! So far so good. Rohan has turned up on time and is so organised and professional. All going really well.

The tutor you sent me on Sat is absolutely excellent. Pls don't change Mina. My kids feel really comfortable with her and finally we feel we have a winning formula.

It's got off to a great start, Beaux really likes Taran and she likes the way Taran explains things and shows her new ways of working things out. Taran has boosted her confidence and Beaux is actually able to do a lot more than we thought.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manunda Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Whitfield State School.
