I believe that the most important thing that a tutor can do is to work with a student from a student's perspective. It is exactly the reason why group-studying is so effective as everyone is on the same wavelength. A tutor's job is to be able to "read" into the student's mind and solve-problems by comfortably adjusting and improvising…

I believe that boosts a student's confidence in the school environment as they are receiving additional help from outside. This allows them to enjoy their time at school and develop positive learning habits. All of these effects will result in better grades for a student, once again fostering more confidence, and cycling back to better grades. I…

As stated previously, the most important thing I can do for a student is explaining to them thoroughly the fundamental concepts of a topic. I personally believe this is the most effective way of learning. In addition, I believe I can not only give extra through my own personal experiences, but also convey this in an extremely friendly and warming…

Be an attentive listener then explain the concept in the way your student will best understand it. It is imperative to first observe where your student's thought process is going wrong and subsequently resolve your student's doubts by communicating effectively and calmly. Patience, most tutors give up after their students don't follow along with…

Everything starts with guidance. Words are so powerful. So the main duty for a tutor is to give the key points to the student and make the student love the subject. So if you give the right guidance to the student they will be more courageous in the following courses. Because i was a honours student both in high school and university, i believe…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them and correct their mistakes. This is essential because incorrect approaches can hinder their learning. By providing clear guidance and constructive feedback, a tutor helps students build a solid foundation and develop confidence in their abilities. Being a tutor in my Year 9 of…

With my previous experience both as being a tutor and being tutored by someone else, I believe a tutor should pay a fundamental role in empowering students to take ownership of their learning. Being able to properly connect with the student is important in building trust so that the student is open and honest about their ability and will ask questions when they don't understand new or existing concepts. EzyMath tutoring is highly recommended. From my initial communication with EzyMath they have delivered exceptional customer service. My daughter is already reaping the benefits of her fabulous tutor after only 4 one hour sessions. Her grade for her algebra topic test has improved by 30%! Can not speak highly enough of this company

Inside KareelaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Tia focused on measuring length and applying reading comprehension skills to short texts.

For Year 9, Josh worked through Pythagoras' theorem and indices problems using targeted revision questions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Mia practiced solving linear equations and rearranging algebraic expressions, with extra attention given to breaking down multi-step processes for clarity.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 financial maths, a student hesitated to write out her working, especially when combining multiple steps—she generally knows what she is meant to do however, struggles when adding multiple steps together.

During Year 9 algebra sessions, another student skipped writing down rearrangement steps, leading to confusion with simple interest questions.

In a Year 7 division lesson, a lack of confidence saw one student avoid certain problems unless completely sure of the answer.

In each case, incomplete written working and avoidance after setbacks slowed progress—sometimes the page stayed blank just because an answer didn't come easily at first.

Recent Achievements

One Kareela tutor recently saw a Year 10 student, who had struggled with algebraic manipulation just two weeks ago, now solve equations and tackle geometry independently—she finished her quadratic problems without needing any hints.

In a Year 8 session, another student showed a real shift: after often rushing through fraction work and making small errors, he slowed down and started checking his steps, leading to correct answers when converting between mixed and improper fractions.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who used to avoid reading out loud volunteered to read an entire passage during the session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sylvania Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kareela Public School.
