To help the student form a routine and improve performance in the school. Teaching the skill of learning and eventually working towards independence is very important to me. When a student develops inner strength to learn, half of the work is done. Specially in Maths i like to analyze any gaps and help the student to bridge these gaps first. To…

Treating each student as an individual, not one method of study or plan can be copied and pasted onto every person. Understanding whether somebody is an auditory, visual or kinesthetic learner is so important to know when preparing learning materials and when tutoring students. Further, taking the time to understand the marking keys and…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are as follows: -create a learning environment that is supportive, where making mistakes is encouraged as it’s the only way to improve. -make learning something fun and rewarding not just another arduous task that has to be done. -boost self confidence by showing the student that they can…

I consider the time and space a tutor gives to the student the most important thing. It is all about what they, as the student, are comfortable with. However, this does not stop another important aspect; pushing a student through their limits in order to achieve their goals. These are the most important things a tutor can do for a student. I…

The most important things a tutor can do is put their students first and be passionate about what they teach. This is important because if a tutor puts their students first, they will pay attention to the students needs, weaknesses, strengths and therefore be able to tutor the student in a way that satisfies their strengths and weaknesses and…

A good tutor not only helps students understand the material but also instils confidence, motivation, and a lifelong love for learning. Ultimately, my goal is to empower students to become independent thinkers and problem-solvers, equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed both academically and beyond. I really appreciate the…

First of all, the most important thing I believe a tutor can do for a student is be a good communicator and negotiator with a student - Through these two skills, the student and tutor can get on the same page regarding areas that require improvement and how to improve these. Next, I believe a tutor can help the student through explaining…

I believe being calm and understanding of the student and their individual circumstances is a very important aspect when tutoring. Further, having an adequate understanding of what the student is trying to achieve and what areas they would like to focus on would be very important, along with knowing what methods of learning work for them. Finally,…

Over the course of a tutor's time with a student, the most important skill they can provide is the ability to think both critically and universally, fueled by a hunger for knowledge. That is to say, both a stronger and more capable work ethic. Analysing how a student mentally approaches problems, communicating to them precisely what their…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to make the student more confident in themselves which motivates them in their studies so they succeed. I have seen in a personal level how badly confidence can affect someone in their studies. You start doubting yourself and think you are horrible at a subject. This leads to the person to not…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not merely give additional lessons, but connect with them to gauge their individual skills and aid in further establishing them. Academic prowess is highly regarded, and to be able to watch a student grow to achieve such a goal would be very fulfilling. In my opinion, recognising…

We tried a few different options before finding EzyMath Tutoring, which is perfect for our sons needs. We have only been using them for about one month, but so far so good, the tutor supplied is exactly what we requested. I would highly recommend EzyMath Tutoring.

Inside KarrinyupTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Benji worked on mean, median, mode, and range as well as interpreting frequency tables and stem-and-leaf plots.

In Year 10, Paige reviewed simple and compound interest problems, including tackling worded scenarios to strengthen her understanding of financial mathematics.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Tahlia focused on drawing derivatives and second derivatives for various functions and revisited sequences, series, and exponential functions using detailed worked examples from past tests.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student repeatedly arrived without completing assigned homework and often left questions unfinished in class, which slowed progress on key skills like finding midpoints and recognising non-linear correlations.

In Year 11, one student avoided writing down equations or working systematically during trigonometry revision—"he doesn't write down the equations and doesn't understand them fully," as a tutor observed—making it difficult to spot calculation errors until late.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner struggled with wordy linear equation tasks, sometimes skipping written attempts entirely when unsure how to start. This led to confusion during follow-up lessons, as previous thinking wasn't visible for review.

Recent Achievements

A Karrinyup tutoring session saw a Year 11 student finally tackle optimisation questions in calculus; after previously getting stuck, she could now solve them independently once the process was explained.

Another high schooler, Ben, has begun catching his own errors on complex BIMDAS and decimal multiplication tasks—where he used to rely entirely on prompts, he now talks through his work aloud and backchecks without being asked.

Meanwhile, a primary student recently started verbalising her thinking when dividing fractions, allowing her to catch and correct mistakes as she worked through each step herself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for the report. We are very happy with Kim's approach and way of teaching . Yejeena is very responsive to her and enjoying her learning. She has become more confident in school and starting to put her hand up to answer questions when her teacher asks questions from the the class. It seems to us that , Kim also is enjoying working with Yejee and very happy with Yejee's attitude toward her extra study hours after school.

Both Ashleigh and myself are very happy with Duncan. Ashleigh is already feeling much more confident and I believe that she will progress steadily.

Tutoring with Robert is going extremely well. Robert has an excellent way of explaining concepts and Tara and Ethan are already feeling more confident with their maths.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Karrinyup Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady of Good Counsel School.
