Chemistry Tutor Kearneys Spring, QLD
Not only is knowing the content extremely important, but the way tutors teach the content is more important. Every student has their own needs, and a chemistry tutor must recognise that some teaching strategies might work for some but not work for others. My strengths is my teaching style. I believe my ability to connect with the student allows…

A tutor can help a student develop the necessary skills,by which he can learn and understand by himself. Also, he can help identify the students weaknesses and provide alternatives by which the student can easily learn. I have patience and understanding. I also have excellent writing skills. Moreover, I like challenges and I love it when I can…

In my opinion, the most important thing about tutoring is creating rapport with the student. Because when the student likes you, he/she begins to trust you. And when you gain their trust, they would listen to what you are saying then they would learn what you are tutoring. As a tutor, my strength is I have a really deep foundation of Mathematics…

Building a deep connection with the student. Solving a problem together and clearly explaining why they went wrong and how it can be improved. This way the student can answer any problem with ease. Inside Kearneys SpringTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Saanvi focused on algebra basics by practising exercises on opening brackets and word problems, alongside regular revision of multiplication tables to strengthen foundational skills.

In Year 10, Alex revised probability concepts with multi-step questions and tackled statistics tasks such as calculating mean, median, and mode using real data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Sam worked through advanced financial maths topics including annuities and compound interest calculations, while also receiving guidance on his Maths Methods assignment structure.

Recent Challenges

Several students in both primary and high school displayed organizational challenges, particularly with incomplete or missing homework.

For example, a Year 9 student "had not done any of the homework assigned either," which left gaps when tackling new content.

In senior years, some struggled to structure assignments—one Year 11 learner needed guidance on using mark schemes for their first major project.

Across Years 4–10, messy written work and skipping steps were common: one student found it "hard to get him to write down every step for problems," leading to confusion when checking answers.

Fatigue after school often amplified these difficulties.

Recent Achievements

One Kearneys Spring tutoring session saw a Year 9 student, who previously rushed through homework with frequent errors, slow down and avoid mistakes during problem-solving.

A high school student in Year 11, after struggling with complex Chemistry concepts like electrolysis, was able to sort through those questions independently this week—something he hadn't managed before.

Another tutor noted that a Year 12 student who used to submit assignments without review is now actively seeking teacher feedback on his work and presenting well-organised data in his reports.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would love to offer some feedback on Derek. I discussed this response with Jaidan last night and he requested that I let you know that he thinks Derek is AWESOME. From my observations,Derek quickly created a great rapport with Jaidan which is important for effective communication. I have queried Jaidan after each session and feel that he is benefitting greatly from Derek's input. He is feeling more confident and very comfortable to source support from Derek. I could not ask for more at this stage so thank you and more importantly please thank Derek on my behalf.

For now, we won't be continuing but we haven't ruled it out for the future.  We were very happy with your service and Jade is a beautiful person!  She has helped Keegan with her confidence in Maths and helped improve her grade this year.  We postponed tutoring at the end of term 1 because Jade had covered as much as she could before introducing new work, which we didn't want to do until it came up in school.  Therefore, we had a break to see how Keegan went, and she's had no problems thus far. If any problems pop up this term, I plan to get in contact with you and Jade ASAP!

Aiden is really happy with Faraz. He felt a bit awkward the first week but the interactions were much better the second week. Aiden finds it very useful because he needs guided revision (it's not necessarily about learning the content). Definitely a good investment!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library or at your child's school (with permission), like Highlands Christian College.
