I have been inspired by educators who encourage their students' learning and find different ways to teach the same concepts. For students who struggle, helping them understand basic/intermediate concepts is a big step. Getting quality responses and correct answers by themselves builds confidence in student learning, and creates positive feedback…

Understand the problem from their perspective and guide them from their stepping stone to the point where they are able to confidently solve problems themselves with little assistance but also be a source for which the students can ask any questions no matter the level of difficulty or understanding. I think because I’ve been on the other side…

As per my perspective, every student is different and tutoring is all about giving personalised guidance. Giving clear and concise explanation of difficult subjects and breaking down them to manageable parts and encouraging them to apply knowledge to solve problems. In nutshell, helping students in any way possible in a positive manner to gain…

First things is to make them feel comfortable so that they can so their doubts. Next, understand the prior knowledge of a student and then give examples on the problems based on that. It helps them to understand various concepts easily and they start building interest in studies. Lastly, try to make education interesting for them! My main…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student it be approachable. If the student feels comfortable asking questions and being honest about what they don't understand, it makes teaching them much easier. That's why, as a tutor, I would do my very best to be friendly and comfortable with the student, and make sure they can enjoy learning…

To understand which areas they need most help with and then work closely with them to help them perform better. It is also very important to make the student feel confident, enable them to ask as many questions as possible without any hesitation, explain concepts clearly and relate them to the real practical problems and then build their knowledge…

I believe one of the most important things in a tutor is a friendly mannerism, as this will make the student feel comfortable and likely more attentive during sessions. Of course a wide range of knowledge in the subject area is also very important to be able to tutor the students. I believe my skills to problem solve would make me a good tutor as…

Inside Kings ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Ashan focused on identifying and solving problems with complementary, supplementary, corresponding, alternate, co-interior, and vertically opposite angles using diagrams, as well as revisiting algebra basics and working through long division from the Year 8 textbook.

Another Year 7 student spent time planning and improving a TEEL essay paragraph for an argument analysis prompt about school uniforms and practiced public speaking skills during a mock debate.

For Year 6, Amish worked on converting decimals to fractions and multiplying decimals, alongside exploring persuasive writing techniques like emotive language and hyperbole in short essays.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly avoided showing working in algebra, relying on mental calculations—"I can do this in my head," he said—which led to confusion and errors, especially when solving equations under test pressure.

In English, the same student struggled to organize ideas clearly in essays; mind maps were suggested to help structure arguments but follow-through was inconsistent.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner hesitated to attempt word problems independently until step-by-step guidance was provided.

In both cases, not engaging fully with feedback or written process slowed progress and left gaps when revisiting past material during revision sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Kings Park tutor noticed a real shift with Ashan, a Year 7 student who used to mix up angle types and lose marks on tests—after targeted practice, he now explains his reasoning out loud and confidently corrects his own mistakes during lessons.

Another high schooler recently tackled long division and negative numbers independently for the first time, only needing help with larger divisors—a big change from previous hesitation with complex calculations.

Meanwhile, a younger student who started off slow with factors is now finishing factor-finding activities without reminders and even volunteers answers before being prompted.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for the report. We are very happy with Kim's approach and way of teaching . Yejeena is very responsive to her and enjoying her learning. She has become more confident in school and starting to put her hand up to answer questions when her teacher asks questions from the the class. It seems to us that , Kim also is enjoying working with Yejee and very happy with Yejee's attitude toward her extra study hours after school.

Both Ashleigh and myself are very happy with Duncan. Ashleigh is already feeling much more confident and I believe that she will progress steadily.

Tutoring with Robert is going extremely well. Robert has an excellent way of explaining concepts and Tara and Ethan are already feeling more confident with their maths.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Deer Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Copperfield College-Kings Park Junior Campus.
