Give the student confidence. Confidence either to persist with the hard work till they hit a breakthrough or the confidence to thing around the problems. There are a lot of students who don't lack in talent and just a couple little things are holding them back. Solving those can really help them grow. I am able to seperate a topic into byte sized…

The most vital thing a tutor can do is to make study fun , yes, a student who just remained worried about studies and exams should no longer be worried if he or she has a tutor . A tutor should be someone on whom a student could rely on about their studies and performance. apart for that , a tutor should understand a student’s weaknesses and…

A student approaches a tutor outside school just so they can understand the subject in a better way. As a tutor, I believe that the most important thing I can do for my students is to make them trust in me and eventually the subject because only then they would put in efforts to overcome their difficulties. As a tutor, I am responsible enough to…

I consider the ability to communicate in the student's eye level to be the essential as a tutor. For example, a tutor should be able to support students based on their level of education and motivation. My strength as a tutor is my ability to communicate and explain difficult concepts as simple as possible. Also, I take tutoring as an opportunity…

I can understand how stressful being a student can be and want to help them just as my teachers helped me. - helping the student improve: it’s not just about getting the specific grade immediately,…

I consider the tutors passion and enthusiasm towards a subject can have a positive impact on how the student receives the information. When a tutor is enthusiastic on the content they are teaching, this transfers to the student. I am patient and try to break down complex content ideas into manageable ideas. A tutor should be patient and never say something is easy. They should always encourage and find ways to explain something step-by-step such that everything is explained and can be linked back to a central idea. I am patient, friendly, and I can see and understand why something can be difficult to understand. I encourage and can relate to finding…

Besides helping them understand and learn a topic, the tutor should also help the student master the topic through mastery learning. Mastery learning is a way of designing units of work so that each set of tasks focuses on a particular learning objective and students must master a task to move onto the next one. The tutor should also help the…

Give moral support and guidance. As a tutor, I don't give answers or solve the student's work, I want them to be able to solve it themselves and use their critical thinking skills with their knowledge of subject content. Subjects can be tough, as a tutor, I need to find ways to convey the same subject in an easier, convenient way to understand it.…

A tutor has to be patient and welcoming for their students. The reason these students come for tutoring is because they face difficulty keeping up with school. So they should be given the space to understand at their own pace, in their own method and a teacher needs to recognize that. We need to recognize the method which we choose to teach a…

Patience - It is the most critical aspect to have as a tutor. Secondly, knowledge, a historian as said half knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge, hence one need to have full idea about the topic. Inside KlemzigTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Maim worked on mastering the order of operations (BEDMAS), including applying brackets in multi-step calculations, and also developed spelling strategies for word endings such as "ice" and "ise."

Year 10 student Sarah focused on indices and surds, tackling both conceptual questions and practice test-style problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Yara addressed statistics by interpreting data sets and exploring probability concepts through real-world examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student hesitated to attempt algebraic modeling questions unless each instruction was read aloud together; she kept missing key details in worded problems until we broke them down verbally.

In a recent writing prompt, she struggled to generate ideas and lost confidence mid-task, showing reluctance to expand on initial thoughts.

For a Year 3 learner, slow progress with larger addition sums meant extra prompting was needed even for basics previously mastered, and there was notable avoidance when sentences required correct grammar and punctuation—mistakes like copying only first letters crept in as she rushed through the task.

Recent Achievements

One Klemzig tutoring session saw a Year 10 student who used to rush through maths assignments now take the time to show full working out on her timed test, finishing under the limit and catching errors she'd previously missed.

A Year 7 student who once avoided asking for help with reading has started initiating discussions about new vocabulary, even building her own dictionary of unfamiliar words during English lessons.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who struggled to order days of the week can now independently sequence them aloud and write them correctly without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greenacres Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Klemzig Primary School.
