Being able to teach the content is one thing, but knowing how to teach someone to learn is far more important. People learn in different ways, and engage with different subjects based on their level of interest. As an english tutor, the most important thing to do for a student is to teach them in a ways that works for them, and to get them…

The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to design study plans around what the student is finding most difficult in their studies to then further develop their knowledge and skills in these areas. I am able to explain in depth concepts and problems that I have full knowledge of - especially maths. Although the student may…

English Tutor Maroochydore, QLD
It is so important for a tutor to know how a student learns. Some students don't work well with rote learning, so making activities that are fun and engaging is very important. Also, being aware that some students are more visual learners or kinetic learner, so being able to cater to that is extremely important. I believe that I can connect well…

The most important thing should be to make the student feel understood and supported. Not every child finds learning easy and so if you can make them feel confident, they will have a much higher chance of succeeding as they know someone is in their corner and genuinely wants them to do well. I am very flexible, so if a student has a certain way of…

Inside KuluinTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 Engineering student worked through bending moments, complex structural problems, and circuit theory, with additional support breaking down a folio project using truss calculators for measurable design ideas.

For Year 11 Maths, a session covered exponential probability distributions and mean calculation methods, along with revisiting polynomial long division.

In Year 5, Ryan focused on creating a dinner menu for a party as part of a maths assignment, applying practical skills in budgeting and number operations.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Engineering, one student tended to rely heavily on school-provided resources rather than actively seeking clarification or taking initiative in assignment planning; as a tutor noted, "he must actively ask and bombard his teachers with questions."

In another senior session, time management became an issue when lesson time was lost due to poor planning and unexpected distractions.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner struggled to keep written work neat and within lines, which made revisiting their thinking difficult during review.

For a Year 8 maths student, incomplete working shown for multi-step algebraic problems led to confusion about sign errors.

Recent Achievements

One Kuluin tutor noticed a Year 11 student who used to doubt his abilities now confidently tackling advanced maths—he even agreed that Mathematical Methods would suit him, given how easily he's handling current work.

In a recent high school session, another student who typically waited for guidance completed an entire set independently at a fast pace, getting most answers right without help.

Meanwhile, a younger learner who struggled with spelling is now picking up her own mistakes and using full stops and capitals unprompted; last week, she wrote three sentences independently without reminders.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Hi Erica, thank you for your email. Things have started well with Jacob and hopefully they will continue in the same way. I think in this case, the difference for Jamie is that she can ask Jacob about a problem that she is struggling with and he can answer her straight away. Vivian was able to answer her too but it took her longer and I think the time factor was what was frustrating Jamie. As I'm sure you are aware in year 12 there is such a time crunch that any delays just add more pressure.

Hi Erica Thanks for the email. Yes, everything is going very well. Daniel is finding Yuta to be very helpful and has definitely been able to identify areas of weakness that require work. We are all very pleased with the progress to date.

Morgan has responded very well already with Hazel.  She said her explanations of problems has made her maths much more easier. We are very happy with Hazel.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Maroochydore Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kuluin State School.
