Physics Tutor Smithfield, QLD
Tutoring is essentially an aid for student's learning in schools. The most important thing that a physics tutor can do is to ignite students' passion for learning. This can be acheived through helping them with questions and concepts that they find confusing, guiding them to develop their own problem solving strategies and most importantly…

Inside KurandaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Layla practised reading analogue and digital clocks, including converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time, and also worked on subtraction with decimals alongside multiplication involving three-digit numbers.

In Year 9, Sophia focused on expanding complex algebraic brackets and solving equations, as well as factorising equations by finding the highest common factor (HCF) and interpreting basic graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Eve tackled all trigonometry questions from a past exam—especially using Pythagoras' theorem to find side lengths—and reviewed similarity and congruence concepts through targeted error analysis.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often arrived without required materials, once losing a homework sheet and needing to spend the lesson redoing missed work rather than moving ahead.

In Year 10 maths, one student's assignment formatting was unclear, which made it hard to interpret solutions—"a few minor changes were made to assignment formatting and interpretation," noted the tutor.

A senior student skipped explaining reasoning behind trigonometric comparisons ("couldn't explain why cos55 > cos65"), limiting deeper understanding.

Several primary students (Years 4–6) did not complete assigned homework multiple times in a row, leading to repeated practice on basics instead of advancing.

Recent Achievements

One Kuranda tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after struggling to start assignments alone, brought her own work for test prep and arrived ready with questions—something she hadn't done before.

In Year 10, Layla used to hesitate on complex problems but now works through them methodically and independently, even making teacher-requested assignment changes without prompting.

Meanwhile, in Year 6, Sophia has started correcting her own test mistakes right away and confidently solves division problems without needing extra help from the tutor.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I think one of the most valuable things I got out of working with Ezy Math is the skills I developed through being a tutor. I was learning a great deal by teaching others, gaining valuable and relevant skills such as effective communication, leadership, management and organisation. It was also extremely rewarding to witness my students progress and gain confidence over the course of tutoring them.

I'm really happy with my tutor Karen which has helped me a lot with my work so far, she really does help me with my errors and to understand my topic and it has made a difference to my learning and I'm more ahead of the class now. I would really like to thank this company for letting me try and push my ability to my greatest. I hope the rest of year stays the same and once again thank it had made a big difference.

Jade has settled in really well with Sangdi, and has told me that she feels she is learning and understanding new things each time they have a meeting. I am also happy with Sangdi as I can see that he has already made progress with Jade.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kuranda Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kuranda District State College.
