PDHPE Tutor Grose Wold, NSW
One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to give him or her self-confidence. I believe that this is especially important for struggling students. A tutor must encourage students and provide them with the tools required for academic success. A student should enjoy tutoring sessions whilst consistently improving during them.…

Ava's tutoring with Kassidy has started off really well, Ava is comfortable with Kassidy and we are happy with how the tutoring is going.

Inside Kurrajong HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Isaac practised area and perimeter of composite shapes using diagrams, and also worked on time conversions, including international time differences.

In Year 9, Luke focused on algebraic equations—rearranging pronumerals and numbers across equations—and revisited BODMAS with application to algebra.

Meanwhile, Zahraa in Year 12 tackled essay writing for Economics by planning responses around economic objectives and policies, as well as refining her draft essays with a focus on integrating statistics and real-world examples.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Mathematics, one student often lost focus and became distracted during problem-solving—"he often writes something on this page or does a drawing which significantly lowers his concentration." This led to frequent forgetting of formulas and uncertainty in applying them, especially with composite shapes.

In Year 11 English, another student left compulsory sections of an adolescent presentation unfinished until the last minute, resulting in incomplete criteria just before the deadline.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner sometimes stalled for time during breaks and struggled to re-engage with revision tasks after holidays, leading to gaps in foundational knowledge.

Recent Achievements

A Kurrajong Heights tutoring session saw a Year 10 student move from relying on prompts to independently structuring paragraphs using the PETAL method, which meant she could now organise her ideas more clearly for assessments.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student who previously tended to "waffle" in essays took on feedback and began editing her drafts with more focus, even submitting an updated essay plan that was much tighter than before.

In primary school, one tutor noticed a student who often fidgeted during lessons successfully tried new strategies to moderate this behaviour, helping him stay attentive through longer tasks without disruption.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Very happy with John.  Would like Jackson to have more lessons with him but can't get Jackson to agree to it as yet!  Working on him.  May ask John to help out with science and possibly English as well in the future if he has time.

Ezy maths tutoring was just what we were after for Zena. We tried a couple of other tutoring companies before ezy maths tutoring but one we had to travel to to get there and the other offered us a young and inexperienced tutor, tutoring is more than knowing about the subject it is being able to teach it. Ezy maths tutoring offered us with everything we were looking for, reasonable pricing, at home tutoring and of course an excellent tutor. We found 'Tara' to be patient and understanding and Zena went from a D to getting B's and C's. We were very happy, thanks to Tara and ezy maths tutoring.

I decided to look for work as a tutor as I had time to spare and "fresh" knowledge that I thought I could share with students who wanted to do better. After being hired by two companies simultaneously, one being Ezy Math Tutoring, I would only have time to work for one of them. The decision to chose this company was easy as Ezy Math Tutoring provided greater support for its tutors. This included better pay, feedback, education on how to become a great tutor and a friendly group of people who were there to contact if I had any queries or if I needed help. The best thing about being a tutor was that I was able to dramatically improve the clients and their child's outlook on their education within a few weeks just by being there and providing a familiar face that knew how to help. I would definitely recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to any aspiring tutors and I thank them for the privilege of working as a tutor for the business.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Richmond Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kurrajong North Public School.
