I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is understand the student and their mindset towards school and schoolwork. If you understand a student, you can adapt your tutoring to give them the most support for them to achieve what they desire. I am encouraging and supportive. I know the content (just have dig through my brain for it). Most…

I also believe it's very important for tutors to be patient and considerate when students are learning. I believe that I can teach in a fun, enjoyable and visual manner…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are provide academic guidance, human connection, and consistency. The combination of these factors can potentially reinvent a class, subject, or school more broadly for a young learner. As a tutor, I believe my strengths include: - Patience: I understand that learning can be challenging and…

The most important and dire activity a tutor can do for his/her student is to give all the 'tools' to not only pass but excel in their selected and even not selected subject. This give the students tips and tricks that cross all boundaries, in reference to studies, and allows them to apply it whenever they desire. Being able to mould and adapt to…

I believe if I can make a difference in the student's life such that they are at a better place from when I began teaching them and If I am actually able to see quantifiable results. Then it's really a win win for the both of us. I have very good foundational knowledge on things I prepare to teach. I have very good communication skills which makes…

Inside LambtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Chloe focused on algebraic techniques, reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of terms, then progressed to solving equations involving pronumerals on both sides and basic quadratics.

For Year 11 student Erika, sessions included calculating shares and dividends as well as working through biology content such as drawing Punnett squares for various inheritance patterns and practicing DNA profiling examples.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Jackson concentrated on trial exam revision by tackling questions from networks, bivariate data analysis, financial maths (including compounding interest), and normal distribution applications.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Maths, one student completed only about an hour of weekly study outside class and often left homework unfinished, especially when lacking confidence with Year 11 financial maths or annuities content. As a tutor observed, "he explained it was because of lack in knowledge to complete the questions."

In test review sessions, this same student took 40 minutes on multiple choice, which reduced available time for extended responses.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student sometimes skipped homework and needed reminders to practice place value and times tables at home—missing out on valuable reinforcement between lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Lambton tutor noticed Jackson, a Year 12 student, is now tackling complex band 5–6 maths questions with little assistance—he used to need step-by-step help and often missed key parts of questions, but after working on exam strategies like underlining data and circling verbs, he's making far fewer errors.

Erika in Year 11 has started asking insightful questions during biology sessions, especially about genetic mutations and inheritance patterns; she used to be much quieter and hesitant to share her thinking.

Meanwhile, Chloe in Year 8 completed all her science assessment tasks independently for the first time, even redrawing her graphs neatly without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

As an Ezy Math tutor, I was especially confident that I could bring positive results to my students. This was because they gave me a great teaching framework to work within, with which I could incorporate my own methods. My greatest accomplishments working with Ezy Math were without doubt the moments when my students were able to overcome certain learning difficulties to produce excellent results. This was often achievable through a simple reorganisation of their work habits and thinking processes. I would highly recommend Ezy Math tutoring to prospective tutors or clients.

Working for Ezy Math Tutoring was different than I thought it would be. I had tutored privately before and I thought it would be pretty much the same deal, but its really not. Working for Ezy Math was great because, every fortnight I was presented with new ideas or stratergies to help my students and there was always the support and room for feedback in every aspect of the Job. When I applied for the job, I was tossing up the idea of maybe becoming a teacher sometime in my career, and working for Ezy Math has made that decision a lot easier. Tutoring is really one of the most rewarding jobs I can imagine doing, as you can literally see the kids begin to get confident and start to surprise themselves with what they know. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring as a very well conducted and professional organisation. I feel that working for Ezy Math was a great experience.

I consider improvements in Maths Test results as my biggest accomplishments while working for EzyMath Tutoring. Whether it be by 10, 20, or 50% improvements it is vital that students strive to a higher standard in both their effort and application to the subject. Students should have goals that are realistic of what they want to achieve in Mathematics. Small goals make a big difference in the overall success in this subject. Whether it be to get a 50% pass mark in the next Mathematics Assessment is much better than getting 43%.  I came to work for the company mainly for the tutoring experience. I have a high school teaching background so it was important for me to branch out into different areas and have a look at more 1 to 1 tutoring which can help develop further my high school teaching career. Tutoring has taught me different teaching strategies that I can implement into the classroom. The Learning Modules in particular was a great resource in reaffirming some of my initial ideas and concepts that I had with the subject. It is a great tool for both tutors and students to be able to understand the complexities in Mathematics and its differentiation from other subjects such as English, History and Science.  I would highly recommend this tutoring company to anyone willing to invest money into making improvements in Mathematics learning. The website is comprehensive and has alot of great resources for both tutors, students, and anyone interested in the subject. The worksheets are a great addition which I have found useful, and would be great use for teachers in the classroom. Overall it has been a positive experience. I believe that we can never stop learning as educators, and it is great to see good people investing alot of time and energy into making teaching and learning in Mathematics more fun, engaging, and innovative.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lambton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John's Primary School.
