Info Processing Tutor Marangaroo, WA
Here are few important things a tutor should do for a student, in my opinion: 1. Be patient. It allows for a learning environment where students feel comfortable taking the time they need to grasp concepts 2. Don't overwhelm students with an excess of information, but rather to introduce knowledge at a pace that is manageable for them 3.…

Inside LandsdaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Olivia practised calculating surface area for cylinders and hemispheres, then applied methods for finding linear equations from two points and used simultaneous equations to locate their intersection.

Year 10 student Daniel focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions with single terms and reviewed index rules.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jamie tackled vectors by finding resultant angles and directions, worked through angle properties, and represented vectors in terms of other vectors using diagrams.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student working on vectors tended to rush into questions and sometimes neglect parts of the question, as one tutor noted, leading to incomplete solutions when multiple steps were required.

In Year 10, another student over-relied on formulas without fully grasping their purpose in algebraic applications; this shortcut resulted in repeated confusion with more complex problems.

A Year 7 learner showed uncertainty with times-tables and often guessed answers rather than working them out, especially during long division exercises. These habits meant time was lost correcting preventable errors instead of building confidence with new content.

Recent Achievements

One Landsdale tutor noticed a Year 11 student who, after weeks of confusion with compound interest, managed to complete most of an investigation independently and only stumbled when key information was missing—a real step up from relying on constant guidance.

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student who previously struggled with simultaneous equations is now tackling simpler questions on her own and even trying new methods without prompting.

In primary sessions, one Year 4 student—who used to freeze at the sight of long multiplication—now finishes multi-digit problems quickly and with fewer errors than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Zane is finally grasping concepts that he always found confusing in class. Alan has been very patient with Zane, as there is quite a bit of work to do. Zane would not have received this personal time in class, due to time, disruptions etc.. Thank goodness we are starting now before NAPLAN in 2 weeks and highschool in 2019.

Just an up date on Alexander. He is absolutely shining with Matt - fantastic tutor!

Ivana is really on to where Ethan's weaknesses and strengths are and works on them. The report is very thorough and I see/agree with her feedback. She really knows where he is at. It's great areas can be targeted and some are quick and some take longer to consolidate. We are very happy with Ivana and appreciate all her efforts!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Girrawheen Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Landsdale Primary School.
