I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient and empathetic with them. Learning from a tutor can be frustrating and tiresome, especially when the student is not getting it right. A tutor should have the ability to carry the student through this, encouraging and motivating them to achieve their best academic…

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build confidence and provide solutions to their problems. Confidence allows students to approach challenges without fear of failure. I have good problem-solving skills and I believe it helps me to clarify the concepts of the students. I also focus on making complex topics more…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to respect their intellect. A tutor must always be careful not to break a student’s confidence. Sometimes, students may feel low for not being able to catch up to their friends. In such case, it is very important as a tutor to encourage the student and bring back his confidence. Childhood…

Develop their confidence and independence. A tutor should create a supportive environment in which students feel free to ask questions, assist them with learning problem-solving skills that they can use on their own, and ensuring they actually understand the logic behind subjects rather than just memorising formulas. I think a tutor is best when assisting the student rather than directing the student. A student should point to their respective goal and the tutor will pull them towards that goal. I believe my strong mathematics background gives me a strong edge when it comes to explaining math concepts and ideas in a vibrant way which is easy to understand. I…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to understand how the student learns. By knowing the students learning preferences and ability the tutor can tailor their approach to individuals rather than utilising a blanket approach, which can often leave some students behind. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on them. Such a tutor, whom is demotivating, doesn't care and has a lack of patience will also cause the student to reflect the same behaviour towards the area of difficulty. The student will develop an attitude which lacks motivation, work ethic and form low…

The most important thing a tutor can do is inspire the students to be successful. This might mean pushing them to study harder, it also might not mean this. It is also important for a tutor to gauge a students potential to see how hard they should push their students. For the less talented students, a lot of patience would be needed. A greater…

Things that are most important a tutor can do for a student is being reliable and patient with students. Be honest. It is very important for a tutor to be honest in their responses. Secondly, the language the teacher uses has great impact on the students. Inside LansvaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Matthew worked through algebraic expressions, including simplifying and factorising, and tackled a coordinate geometry problem using past exam resources.

Another Year 8 student, Jason, focused on solving textbook algebra exercises—expanding brackets and collecting like terms—and began revising earlier topics for consolidation.

For English, Year 8 student Ethan identified literary techniques within short texts and completed a spelling test of 15 words to build vocabulary accuracy.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Maths, one student attempted homework yet made a lot of guesses and did not do working out, leading to repeated errors in algebra that could have been avoided with clearer steps.

A Year 10 English student hesitated to share when confused and needed more practice with spelling unfamiliar words, which slowed progress on written tasks.

In Year 6, skipping feedback after mistakes meant the same issues recurred during pretests.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 struggled to manage time during exam questions, often rushing the last section and missing marks for incomplete answers.

Recent Achievements

One Lansvale tutor noticed a Year 10 student who previously hesitated with factorisation now confidently works through examples and even reads comprehension passages aloud with much smoother flow.

In a recent Year 7 maths session, another student who often relied on prompting began following the full steps independently for dividing problems—no reminders needed.

Meanwhile, a primary school learner who used to struggle with spelling tackled her English homework without help and corrected words she missed last week all on her own, finishing the task before moving on to extra questions by choice.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as The Whitlam Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cabramatta Public School.
