The most important things for a tutor to do is to be able to adapt their teaching methods for the unique demands of each individual student. This maximises their learning, while also creating a stronger rapport between student and teacher. Another important thing for a tutor to do is to challenge and push students in an encouraging manner. It…

I think the most important part of teaching is the learning process, if a tutor is creative enough to help their students to understand their educational goals. This can include providing supplementary works, setting goals and offering them feedback. According to me strengths is our insight, patience, understanding, creative and etc. i know being…

Even more than teaching the actual content, it’s important to foster a genuine love for learning (somewhat clichĂ©, I know). While I’ll never been tutored myself, my teachers have played a significant role in motivating me to excel and s a tutor, I would aim to inspire that same passion for learning in my students. I believe my strength as a…

Being friendly, when you are placed in an environment that is not friendly as a student, severely encumbers learning. Patience is another key aspect that all tutors should have, although we ourselves have been through the content numerous times, it is likely the student's first time. Therefore, any learning curves or confusions should be dealt…

I think a tutor must put in just as much, if not more effort than the student. He should not only know the concept but also know how to frame it according to the needs of his student I can boil down a complex topic in simple terms. I know whether I should speed up or slow down my pace as per the understanding of my…

Patience, encouragement, support and passion. When I think back on my good teachers, they were people who treated me fairly, respected me, believed in me and were also skilled in their profession. I believe persistence and encouragement are important in supporting a student, especially if they don't receive this at their own school. A main reason students don't do well or aren't productive is because they aren't motivated. It is important to try and help them be self-motivated by their own passions and desires in life. I would not give up…

Not all students have same level of talent, willingness to study, dedication to achievements. They can even have learning disabilities which limit or slow down their education. Then they should adopt appropriate methods of teaching…

Simply to understand the student as an individual. Everyone has different learning styles, what works for some won't work for others. When a…

I think building confidence and a long-lasting appreciation of learning in a particular subject are the best things a tutor can give to a student. I feel that understanding the student's weak areas and trying to make him/her feel less intimidated with the problems is the main role of a tutor. Local Reviews

First contact, reply was within an hour. A tutor was assigned and progress was made immediately. We started with Math for Year 11 and progressed to English for Year 12, both subjects have given great results so far. Definitely recommend EzyMath Tutoring to future students in need of confidence.

Inside LavertonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Harry practised solving and graphing linear inequalities, as well as simplifying algebraic expressions with a focus on factorising.

For Year 11, Maya worked through differentiation techniques in calculus and tackled applications of derivatives using exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Chloe focused on probability distributions, including binomial distribution problems and interpreting statistical results from practice assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled with forgetting key algebraic rules during classwork, leading to hesitancy and missed steps when solving equations.

In Year 11 Maths Methods, "timing during questions" was flagged as a concern—spending too long on familiar problems left little time for challenging sections, especially in differentiation tasks.

Another senior student relied heavily on their CAS calculator for fraction manipulation but then felt lost without it in non-calculator exams.

When exact values in trigonometry came up, skipped revision of formulas meant blank spots mid-test, leaving answers unfinished as the clock ran down.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Laverton recently noticed a big shift with a Year 12 student who used to freeze on worded maths problems—now, after working through strategies together, she's able to break down and solve these questions without prompting.

In Year 10, one student who had trouble applying the product and chain rules in calculus started picking them up much faster, showing more independence during practice sessions instead of waiting for hints.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who often forgot content from week to week surprised his tutor by recalling previous lessons and answering all ten basic algebra questions correctly without reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Altona Meadows Library and Learning Centre—or at your child's school (with permission), like Seabrook Primary School.
