As I recently graduated I can understand the pressure that is being faced every day so I would make sure that the student studies a topic with a cool mind rather than studying in a panic mood. I would like them to study everything in a smart way rather studying everything in a hard way. I also believe while studying the student should know what is…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be relatable and teach content in a way that is easily comprehensible for the student based on their current level so they are not overwhelmed. This will lead the student to look forward to attending your tutoring class. As a tutor, I am very reliable and available to my students. I come…

I believe a tutor should be able to explain things clearly and stop the flow of teaching when necessary if a student needs to revise a difficult concept, as I believe it is better to know the concepts now rather than leave those areas to remain unclarified and which can and does affect students come a test or exam day. I believe that a tutor…

Science Tutor
A tutor must help a student reach their greatest potential. A tutor must understand their student's skillful areas and utilize them to the best of their abilities. A tutor must understand their student's strengths and weaknesses and tailor the lessons around the weaknesses. I am very good at communication and treat my students as friends. I make…

Inside Long ForestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Sam focused on applying the area formulas for various shapes and practiced using Pythagoras' Theorem to solve right-angled triangle problems.

In Year 10, Emily worked through interpreting displacement-time and velocity-time graphs as well as solving equations of motion for constant acceleration, including calculations with F = ma.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Alex reviewed exothermic and endothermic reactions in chemistry, balanced chemical equations, and explored the construction and function of galvanic cells.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student struggled to show working in division problems when converting fractions to decimals, leading to confusion in multi-step questions; as the tutor observed, "the process is not shown," which made error-tracing difficult.

In Year 12 Biology, one student hesitated to answer follow-up questions and rarely used correct terminology—he needed repeated prompting before attempting explanations on topics like cellular respiration.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 maths student consistently avoided writing out calculations, instead doing them mentally and seeking constant reassurance rather than building independent confidence.

Homework was often incomplete or forgotten, especially among Years 8–9 students tackling percentage and factorisation tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Long Forest tutor noticed a big change in a Year 10 student who used to stay quiet during biology sessions; now, she's actively asking questions when confused and taking her own notes on tricky topics.

In Year 12 chemistry, another student has started arriving with self-prepared notes and takes initiative by attempting all homework before the lesson—something she previously skipped if unsure.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner who often lost her place while reading longer passages was able to read out loud and answer comprehension questions for an entire story without drifting off or skipping words.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mayeesha is doing a great job with tutoring Joanna. She comes in with such a great attitude to teach. We are blessed to have her.

Sarah is fabulous! Friendly knowledgeable and flexible with times to work in with my child. Very happy with how she is working with my daughter.

I am pleased to say that things are going very well with Tina so far. Tina is organised, confident and already has a good grasp of Olivia's issues and Olivia really likes having her come each week. I look forward to her continued progress.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lederderg Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Arnolds Creek Primary School.
