Tutoring can give personalized instruction that meet their personal needs. In addition, the tutor can build a better relationship with the student and parents rather than in-school environment, where teachers need to take care of around 20 students, not focus on personal needs. Finally, a tutor can give feedback effectively to students, help…

Inside LynbrookTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Aryan focused on solving linear equations and reviewing how to substitute values into algebraic expressions.

Year 8 student Emily practised working with percentages, including converting between decimals and percentages, as well as calculating profit and loss using real-world examples.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Mina worked on double-digit multiplication and consolidating addition skills for sums greater than ten.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student struggled to consistently check for sign errors when working with algebraic symbols; as a tutor noted, "misinterpreting symbols mid-way led to the wrong solution," meaning time was lost retracing steps rather than building new skills.

In Year 8 geometry, confusion between co-interior and complementary angles left one student uncertain about which strategy to apply—double-checking which angle type was needed became essential but sometimes overlooked under pressure.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner's times tables recall slowed down long division, requiring repeated reminders before moving forward with calculations. The frustration was visible in pauses and sighs as answers slipped just out of reach.

Recent Achievements

A Lynbrook tutor noticed a Year 11 student who used to rush through algebra problems now taking the time to double-check each step and catch her own errors, something she hadn't done before.

In a recent Year 8 session, a student who was hesitant about worded perimeter and area questions managed to break down complex problems independently after learning new techniques for solving equations.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who previously counted on fingers for sums above ten can now add numbers up to twenty in his head without pausing or needing prompts from the tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hampton Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Lynbrook Primary School.
