The first thing would be to establish a plan of goals and expectations and help the student identify their role in this plan. Once a physics tutor has an idea of the expectation of the parents/school/ students then only can progress take shape, and this might have many forms and variations as to how this is executed as the student grows or stalls.…

I believe explaining a concept in such a way that the student understands it intuitively and can thus use that understanding to solve different problems, rather than simply rote-learning a series of facts, is an incredibly important part of being a physics tutor. The tutor should be adding to a student's toolkit such that they can solve a variety…

Helping a student visualize the portions they learn would be the best thing a physics tutor can do for a student. If a student is able to visualize a portion, the student will be able to learn the concept and use it to apply in various applications. Making a student fall in love with what they learn is the most important thing, as I experienced…

Teach students HOW to learn in future. Give them techniques to implement into their everyday school routine that will, in the long run, benefit their understanding. I believe it is equally important to really listen to students properly. As someone who has received tutoring before, when your tutor misinterprets you, it is difficult to get to the…

It depends a little bit on age but the older they get the more important confidence is going to be and giving the students confidence is the most important job. I'm not going to teach a 12 year old a lot more, they have spent years in school and they have all the knowledge they need. The important job of tutor is to make them believe that they…

To give the student confidence and show them that the subject is not beyond their understandings. Prove that It's not difficult but needs to be approached correctly. In my opinion, there are three main factors to consider: 1) Solve all the doubts that the student has. 2) Encourage students to continue exploring in depth the topic that is learned. so he can better understand what he is studying only if he can constantly practice. 3) Encourage students to ask, to do research, to challenge themselves in…

Inside ManningTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Charlie focused on solving linear equations, including those involving fractions and progressively challenging questions.

For Year 9, Mae worked through stem-and-leaf plots and explored measures of central tendency using real data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Sarah practiced converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages, applying these skills to everyday ratio problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student arrived without a formula sheet, which meant advanced chemistry problems couldn't be attempted; "we had to stick to basic practice," as noted.

In Year 8 maths, missed homework was highlighted twice before the break—2.5 hours set but not yet completed.

For a Year 10 English essay, facing the full draft caused overwhelm: ideas stalled until structure was broken into smaller steps.

During Year 9 algebra, skipping written working led to sign errors in linear equations that went unnoticed at first glance. In these moments, confidence dipped and momentum slowed as gaps became more visible.

Recent Achievements

One Manning tutor noticed that Mae, a Year 10 student, has started to persist with 3D geometry problems despite previously sharing how much she struggled to visualise them—last week, she worked through half and quarter cylinder questions without giving up.

Charlie (Year 11) had been making small errors in coordinate geometry but recently completed a full set independently of complex ratio and backwards-solving tasks for the first time.

In English, a high school student who was often hesitant about essay writing produced a solid response on their own and began asking for new strategies to tackle exam questions.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are finding Eloise great. She is very good with Penny and has really listened to where Penny needs help with most and has prepared for her lessons well. We plan on keeping up tutoring as I think it's making a big difference with Penny's confidence at school. She has gone from below the expected level in term 1 report to at the the expected level for her end of year report.

We found Rishabh to be very professional, reliable and prompt in replying to correspondence

My daughter Jasmine has been tutored by Thomas Ban in maths for the past few years. She recently was accepted into the gifted and talented class for year 7 at Stella Maris and also received an "Outstanding" grade (highest grade possible) for Maths this year. We just wanted to thank Thomas Ban for the wonderful work he has done with Jasmine this year. We feel that she has received these grades due to Thomas tutoring. He has challenged and pushed her to work harder and improve her maths. He is also extremely professional and courteous.

Physics tutoring in Manning

Learning science is full of twists and turns. It's about making embarrassing mistakes, overcoming setbacks and chasing those exhilarating aha moments.

If they want to achieve great results students need to put in the time, but they also need to learn at a quicker pace - a learning pace that might not be completely comfortable to them. Some students get to the finish line quicker and some students struggle along the way.

This is exactly when they can benefit from guided learning the most.

We work with great physics tutors in Manning who can support your child's academic progress. There's always a test or quiz around the corner and with a great tutor guiding them, students tend to feel less overwhelmed.

Physics Tutor Manning

Tutors are also great role models. It's all about the connection they make with the student. We've found that when a tutor and a child click - that's when learning happens.

That is exactly what we look for in a tutor, someone attuned to the specific needs of your child.

All we need is to have a quick chat with you. We organise a tutor to come to your home for one-on-one tutoring, at a time that works for you and your child.

You pay a simple hourly rate. And if it happens that you are not completely happy with the tutor, we consider the first lesson a risk-free trial. Then we keep looking for a better match.

Sounds good so far? We can start looking for a local physics tutor in Manning right away!

Just give us a call!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manning Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Manning Primary School.
