Often if students are seeking tutoring, they are struggling or in a place of doubt about their abilities. Providing a comfortable, safe environment where students can feel reassured about their own abilities is so important. I know before I developed a passion for mathematics especially, I struggled with and detested the subject. As soon as I…

Help them understand the concepts they have trouble with. Answering questions correctly is important but it is only the result of understanding the concepts of what is being tested. Therefore the goal should be to make students aware of and master the underlying skills and concepts in their particular subject. I am happy to take my time to explain…

1. To identify where the child needs help - be it in the process of solving a question, or in fact in the way they think of what the question is asking. 2. To be able to communicate point 1 above, such that the child is able to understand. 3. Holistically take into account that each child is different, sometimes it is not a matter of merely…

I believe being calm and understanding of the student and their individual circumstances is a very important aspect when tutoring. Further, having an adequate understanding of what the student is trying to achieve and what areas they would like to focus on would be very important, along with knowing what methods of learning work for them. Finally,…

Economics Tutor Kallaroo, WA
One of the most important things a tutor can do is to give a student a sense of confidence in his/her abilities. It is easy for students to get discouraged and give up; a tutor is the person who helps the student keep going. I am patient and can see where a student is confused over a concept and am able to break down the problem for them. I can…

I feel that getting to know and appreciating each individual student for who they are as a person in so important. It makes the student feel appreciated and allows a relaxed, productive, friendly and positive workspace to form. This can be done by having conversations about their days, having a laugh with them and fully engaging with what each…

A teacher can do the most if they can interpret they could enrich knowledge of their students with their way of teaching and most importantly build a strong knowledge of good practices and bad practices in terms of studies. I can change my way of teaching according to the student's personality and preference. Let us suppose there might be…

I would just like to say how thrilled we are with Aaron, he is amazing. Tyler loves working with him and actual looks forward to doing maths which I never thought would happen. So once again thank you for such a wonderful service with great tutors.

Inside MarangarooTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Emma worked on comparing fractions with and without images, as well as simplifying both proper and improper fractions using different denominators.

In Year 7, Ethan focused on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages through a set of conversion worksheets and tackled percentage problems drawn from the curriculum.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Liam completed a practice test covering Pythagoras' theorem and trigonometry applications to heights and distances, solving worded questions step-by-step.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled with multi-step algebra questions, often forgetting rules and hesitating to show working—he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors. This made it difficult to identify where understanding broke down.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 learner found time management challenging during practice tests; answers were incomplete when tackling wordy trigonometry problems.

In Year 5, one student's written work became messy on long division tasks with larger numbers, causing confusion and errors when checking solutions.

For a Year 3 child, skipping instructions in measurement activities led to missed marks despite knowing the content.

Recent Achievements

One Marangaroo tutor noticed a Year 11 student who, after struggling with hypothesis writing, now independently formulates hypotheses and identifies variables in science questions—something she hesitated to do before.

In Year 9 maths, a student began correcting her own mistakes on fractions worksheets and clearly asked for help on the trickier questions instead of guessing silently as she had in previous sessions.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student recently set her own learning goals for upcoming lessons and managed to problem-solve through difficult word problems that previously stopped her progress.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I just want to say that Daniel has finished his HSC and he received absolutely wonderful help from Andrew. I have recommended Ezy Math Tutoring to a friend of mine who will be in touch with you. Also, Lucy has been lovely and very helpful for Julia. Julia has finished her exams for the year and she is sure that without Lucy's help she would have really struggled with her maths.

Thank you for your email. All is going well with Avi, Michael is making steady gains and we are happy with his progress.  Avishag works well with Michael, she has a mature, organised work ethic, and is a great role model for Michael.

I believe Paige is beginning to ask Jake more questions. I have advised her if she is still unsure of something she should ask for Jake to explain it again or in a different way. I feel she is starting to have more faith and she has advised me she is understanding some concepts a bit more clearly.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Girrawheen Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rawlinson Primary School.
