Make their learning easier. This world is too complicated for students from a young age, and on top of that the pressure of studies and exams, feel like a lot. So by helping to make their studies easier and fun is what I think is the most important I think my strengths as a tutor is making my students comfortable around me, and helping them learn…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide tailored support, enabling the clarification of complex concepts in a way that is unique to each student. Additionally, I consider it crucial for a tutor to cultivate an environment that fosters a love for learning, incorporating goal setting and continuous motivation.…

Inside MaraylyaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Emily worked on recognising polygons and their nets, alongside grammar skills such as correct use of capitals and full stops.

Year 10 student Aiden focused on solving linear equations and interpreting financial maths scenarios like commission and hourly rates, practicing with real-world examples.

For Year 12, Mia tackled HSC Business Studies revision by reviewing the operations process and strategies, including short answer practice under timed conditions to build exam confidence.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in Business Studies was encouraged to "maintain a regular schedule of revision, practice and research," as gaps in consistent note-taking and review left him needing to re-learn older content before trials.

In Year 8 English, focus drifted toward the end of lessons, especially when tired; as one tutor observed, "focus started to drop towards the end... talking a lot while we were doing English."

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student repeatedly left homework incomplete and required prompting to retain more information—her engagement dropped without extra encouragement. Missed revision sessions often meant less confidence during new topics.

Recent Achievements

A Maraylya tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student who used to rush through practice exams now pausing to check answers and explain reasoning out loud—a big shift from guessing under pressure.

Another high schooler, preparing for HSC trials, showed real growth by independently linking financial management topics across the syllabus when working through revision questions, something he struggled with last term.

In primary years, one student who was hesitant to read aloud is now confidently reading entire chapters and double-checking her answers without prompting—she finished last session by tackling ten algebra problems on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I came to work for Ezy Math towards the end of my first year of university to gain more experience for my degree and resume, and to keep an on-going job with other jobs which came and went over the years. I was able to deal with various teaching and learning situations which have informed the way I deal with students in the classroom. I'm much more articulate and authoritative when dealing with potentially difficult situations. In terms of expectations, I'm able to plan, organise and set expectations of students' goals as a result of some bad experiences which, overall, have contributed to my own skills as a teacher/tutor. I would recommend Ezy Math to students who need help. To other tutors, sometimes it may be tough, and students may be difficult, but overall the experience is great and you'll learn a lot about being an independent worker and developing interpersonal skills which you'll need for future jobs and later years of university. It is particularly rewarding with students - seeing improvements about the way they view and approach Math as a subject, and even enjoying it as a subject. For clients, Ezy Math tutors will work with you to help your child's needs. In the long term, I know that the process of tutoring with Ezy Math should assist or allow you to better understand your child's learning needs. Overall,  Ezy Math gave me starting experience which over the years has lead to other jobs. Now I continue to private tutor, and work with particular tutoring companies which cater to selective school students. I started as a first year and now I'm in 4th year honours student. I think that Ezy Math is a great way to start off and a great way to learn responsibility and job balance as a first, second or even third year university student.

Everything is travelling smoothly with Rebecca and Hollie and I'm looking forward to them getting back into it this week.

Tahlia has started to show improvement and confidence in her Maths, since being tutored by Lisa Lin.  Lisa is a lovely person and Tahlia has built up a great rapport  with her.  It is early days, but I can definitely see some good progress.
