Business Studies Tutor Tuart Hill, WA
Be patient and not make the student feel bad about not knowing certain things. Any questions that the students have are never 'bad' questions. Most important thing is to be supportive. My strengths as a tutor is that I'm patient and I adapt my teaching to the students learning…

Understand how the student thinks, and how best to reach out to them so that they understand the topic most effectively, and most importantly create a fun environment where studying can be viewed as a fun activity as well. My strengths are empathy, critical thinking ability and enthusiasm for learning. I can explain one item (e.g. math problem) in…

Business Studies Tutor Nollamara, WA
Ultimately, the most important things a tutor can do for a student are provided academic guidance, human connection, and consistency, and the combination of these factors can potentially reinvent a class, subject, or school more broadly for a young learner. Creativity and enthusiasm for teaching. Ability to explain complex things. Ability to…

Build a relationship to have learning be authentic, individual and enjoyable. Have them learn something they could not do, consolidate and master the subject. See a smile on the face of the student when new understanding has occurred. To adapt the curriculum to each individual student and to use 'on the spot' strategies when I see a student does…

Inside MarmionTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 Paige focused on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages, as well as practicing multiplying with decimals using test questions for extra reinforcement.

Year 9 Benji worked through all key algebra skills for his upcoming test and spent time mastering equations of linear graphs by tackling a comprehensive study booklet.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Paige revisited challenging finance questions from a recent test and practiced applying clear steps to similar exam-style problems to boost confidence for future assessments.

Recent Challenges

Missed two consecutive homework assignments on midpoints and correlation, which limited their readiness for lesson activities ("Did not do homework set").

In Year 11, a student avoided writing out equations fully during algebra tasks, making it difficult to spot and fix calculation errors.

For one Year 10 trigonometry topic, overconfidence meant "he believes that he is OK" despite an exam result of just 33%, so gaps went unaddressed until the test.

In primary years, messy or incomplete working was noted in fraction simplification, sometimes causing confusion when revisiting problems later.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Marmion recently saw a Year 10 student who had previously been anxious about index laws, but after working through each rule, he completed all the practice questions without making his usual mistakes.

In a senior high school session, another student surprised himself by quickly adapting to new types of graphs and data; where he once hesitated with interpreting features of parabolas, he now describes them confidently and solves factorising problems more smoothly.

Meanwhile, during a primary session, one student was initially hesitant with long division but persisted and managed to complete several sums independently before the lesson ended.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Julian has improved since Armanat has come along. It's good to hear that Julian is progressing and where he needs to improve. I encourage him to do revision every week. Julian and I appreciate Amanats tutoring and his feed back, it's most helpful as is this report.

Amir completed one session and was great and communicated really well with Kane and myself.

Yes Taylor is working out very well. Ruby likes her and is responding well to her. Thank you for your assistance.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Duncraig Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Marmion Primary School.
