English Tutor Safety Beach, VIC
A tutor should listen to students and always clearly explain anything, and check to see if the student understands. A tutor should also celebrate successes with the student, or support them if they are disappointed with results and reassure them that they can improve. I am an excellent listener and communicator, so would have no trouble…

Where maths were a source of major stress and anxiety before, Georgia has helped my child feel more confident and at ease. She is patient and explains things clearly, makes it fun and relevant.

Inside McCraeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mira worked on place value and using the order of operations for multi-step calculations.

In Year 8, Willow focused on solving linear equations and tackling complex fraction operations with step-by-step practice.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Tom explored graphing linear equations and interpreting solutions directly from coordinate geometry examples.

Recent Challenges

Riley repeatedly avoided writing down working in algebra and fractions—"he tries to do it all in his head," one tutor noted—which led to confusion and preventable errors, especially with factorising and multi-step problems.

In a senior task on graphing linear equations, forgetting to label axes and intercepts resulted in unclear answers that couldn't be easily checked or marked.

Willow (Year 10) often left homework incomplete and skipped showing her steps when solving equations; this meant mistakes went unnoticed until review time.

Gracie (Year 5) hesitated to attempt challenging multiplication questions, which undermined her confidence during revision sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Mccrae tutor recently saw Riley, a high school student, go from hesitating over fraction operations to consistently multiplying and dividing them without errors—even tackling negative signs and brackets smoothly.

Willow, another secondary student, had previously rushed through work but is now taking time to check her solutions and even attempts more complex equations in her head before asking for help.

In primary sessions, Gracie—who used to get overwhelmed by big numbers—has started managing multi-step place value problems independently and followed instructions to solve perimeter questions on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mo is a lovely girl and Ashleigh seems to be benefitting a great deal from her tutoring sessions with her. Ashleigh is fairly motivated and I'm sure by the time exams come around there will be a noticeable difference in her capabilities. Mo and Ashleigh interact quite well and Ashleigh is much more confident about what she is doing after her sessions. All in all, at this stage we couldn't be happier with the way things are going.

While my 4 Children were wary at first of doing  extra Maths, I was pleasantly surprised at their quick turnaround. Trinh was very patient and all 4 noticed their improved confidence and understanding in class, thank you!

Please be advised that I would like to cease the tutoring services of your company. My boy has greatly benefited from the tutoring of Robin who has shown great patience, ability and caring. I did inform Robin last night that I was not continuing with tutoring as I feel Liam is now back on the Maths track. If I need further assistance, I'll give you a call. Thanks (especially to Robin).

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mobile Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rosebud Primary School.
