Brush over familiar concepts of study, and go into detail with concepts that are a little more difficult to understand. A tutor should always be patient as the student is already frustrated as they do not understand what they are learning to begin with, and i can say with confidence i am very patient. Involvement of the student . If a tutor or a teacher is not able to make his/her student involved and self motivated to study then the whole effort as well as time of both teacher and student go waiste. I try to put my efforts as a mentor wholeheartedly to make my students clear about the concepts and put more emphasis on quality not quantity.…

As a tutor, I believe the most important trait is to be inspiring to those you are tutoring. It is easy for students to disengage from tutors who are not inspiring even if they are trying to help their…

Inside Melton SouthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Zoe focused on simplifying fractions and decimals as well as multiplication and division skills through targeted quiz questions.

In Year 8, Ray revised all times tables for fluency and practiced using BODMAS to solve numerical expressions with multiple operations.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sienna worked through interpreting displacement/time and velocity/time graphs, applying F = ma, and solving equations of motion for constant acceleration in her Physics lessons.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student struggled to stay engaged with maths when word problems arose, saying, "I feel lost and unsure" if the question didn't use just numbers. This meant he'd leave sections blank, even when he knew the calculation steps.

In Year 7 algebra, a reluctance to write out each working step led to confusion and missed errors; as one tutor noted, "he calculated in his head but couldn't show how he got there."

A senior student faced difficulty checking factors without relying on synthetic division—she grew frustrated as trial-and-error took over, slowing her progress through polynomial tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Melton South tutor noticed Jordan, a Year 10 student, making up lost ground in maths after COVID disruptions—he's now picking up new concepts faster and working through problems more independently.

In another session, Colin (Year 7) shifted from struggling to organise his ideas to confidently brainstorming creative writing topics without prompting.

Meanwhile, Aaylah in Year 3 has started reading longer passages aloud with fewer skipped words; where she once lost focus easily, she now manages double-digit addition on the whiteboard with little guidance and even answered comprehension questions after reading a passage.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are incredibly impressed with our tutor, Serena.  She is a gifted and most dedicated teacher.  Her ability to extend our daughter has been remarkable and we are thrilled to have her continue with Miki.  Thanks for a wonderful program.

Thankyou to Ezymath tutoring for building up the confidence my daughter needed in preparation for high school this year. During year 7 she was falling behind and her self confidence was waning, causing her to panic about high school but in the few short months she received one on one tutoring at home, her confidence grew and she learnt how to tackle new problems and ask for extra help when needed. Having the extra help, in the comfort of our own home was a winning combination. She is now more confident about what this year holds for her and is looking forward to new challenges, knowing she is better equipped to handle them. If needed down the track, we won't hesitate to start up more tutoring sessions again.

I found Ezy Math's tutoring excellent. I would highly recommend it. They managed to find a tutor whose teaching style was perfect for my daughter. They related to each other and my daughter's ability in maths increased exponentially. I was very happy with them.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Melton Library & Learning Hub—or at your child's school (with permission), like Melton South Primary School.
