Psychology Tutor Mount Martha, VIC
Understand their individual needs, as the reason most children may seek a tutor is because their teachers cannot give them enough specific support. I am flexible in the manner in which I can teach, allowing me to help many different people that may not get individualised teaching through their school. I am patient, I never rush those I'm teaching,…

Sheena was great and VERY patient. Most importantly Olivia liked her.

Inside Merricks NorthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 Mira practised long multiplication and division as well as multiplying and dividing decimals to build calculation fluency.

For Year 8 Finn, recent lessons focused on revising index laws in preparation for an upcoming test, then introduced probability notation using real-world examples.

Meanwhile, Year 9 Jack tackled linear equations by plotting them on graphs and learned how to determine equations from slope and intercept, supporting his understanding with worked graph sketches.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, Riley tended to do most calculations in his head rather than writing steps—"he talks aloud well, but loses track and makes errors," a tutor observed.

This habit especially impacted multi-step fraction simplification and algebraic factorising, where missed working led to repeated confusion with highest common factors.

In Year 10 Algebra, he often left graph axes unlabeled or answers partially complete, such as not simplifying fractions or omitting units after conversions.

When tackling senior worded problems (e.g., rates or linear equations), attempts to skip structured methods meant extra time was spent retracing thought processes instead of progressing to solutions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Merricks North noticed that Riley, a Year 8 student, now asks for clarification when stuck on algebraic notation instead of silently skipping questions—something he avoided in earlier sessions.

Meanwhile, Charlie (Year 10) pushed through all four exam-style problems independently, showing new persistence after previously giving up partway.

In a recent primary session, Damir (Year 5) stayed engaged for the full hour using hands-on objects to represent numbers; this is a big step forward from his usual distraction halfway through lessons.

Last week, Finn (Year 11) chose to work out probability questions on his own and explained his reasoning aloud without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I want to thank Ezy Maths Tutoring, as Joshua seems to have connected well with David and is working with his strengths. Already we are seeing a difference in the confidence of David to tackle his Maths and is being guided to see the areas that he is lacking instead of total self doubt of thinking that he knows nothing .

Sam has been an excellent, kind, understanding and patient tutor with Gabriella. Under his guidance she has made improvements in her outcomes and study habits in spite of her great difficulties with the subject. She had gone from a fail grade to a pass mark and has steadily applied herself more consistently to regular study thanks to Sam. We have nothing but praise for his abilities.

We really cannot speak highly enough of Conaire. He is communicative, polite, always on time, and most importantly, highly competent with maths. From their first meeting, Tim has enjoyed and benefited greatly from his tutoring and encouragement. On a scale of 1 to 10, Conaire rates a 10+ (with no exaggeration at all).

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hastings Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Balnarring Primary School.
