I believe the most important thing is to be well-prepared ahead of the session and have good knowledge of the subject. In addition to these, the tutor must be empathetic to the child's needs, effectively communicate and also tailor the teaching methods as every student is different and has varied learning needs and capabilities. This will also…

The most important thing one can do as a biology tutor is making sure their students needs are being met with. If a student requires extra attention or help in a certain area, it is the tutors responsibility to know that and give the required help . I also believe it is vital for a tutor to have a personalised study plan for each student, based on…

A tutor can assist student in understanding the concepts more clearly and a biology tutor can mold a student's focus on the subject. A tutor is a constant reminder for a student to choose the right techniques for study. A tutor can explain the nuances of not just learning concepts but also to reciprocate them in the exam. My patience with students…

It is highly important to provide the student with a support network in which the student feels confident to ask any questions and feels comfortable. Primarily, a biology tutor needs to be someone the student can depend on for sound knowledge of the content. Be available and help them develop transferable skills. In my opinion, there's no point handing them an A+ essay to study and learn phrases, but rather help them understand why each type of connection and phrase is important and adds value, so that they can build their own skills which can be used under pressure in exams and across all of their…

Inside MicklehamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Aiden focused on long division strategies and revising multiplication with the column method, practising both through targeted word problems.

Year 5 student Zara worked on fractions—comparing and adding fractions with like denominators—and was introduced to equivalent fractions using number lines.

Meanwhile, Year 7 student Lily revised angles by measuring and drawing them with a protractor, as well as identifying different types of angles in real-life diagrams.

Recent Challenges

Homework completion and organization surfaced as consistent hurdles across both primary and secondary levels.

In Year 8 mathematics, one student missed a page on homework sheets, while another in Year 9 repeatedly failed to submit complete assignments; "he needs improvement in organising his worksheets," a tutor observed.

For a Year 7 learner, missing or misplaced homework sheets led to lost time during lessons, making it difficult to review mistakes.

These lapses meant time was spent searching for materials rather than consolidating concepts like long division or area of composite figures—leaving gaps that lingered into revision sessions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Mickleham noticed Haroon, a high schooler who previously hesitated to speak up when confused, now regularly asks clarifying questions during lessons on order of operations—a big step from staying quiet and guessing.

Hisham, also in high school, has started tackling fraction problems with visible enthusiasm after struggling to see their purpose; last session he volunteered to explain his reasoning out loud.

Meanwhile, a younger student showed new independence by building a 3D object alone from a 2D net without any prompting—something she'd avoided attempting alone just weeks ago.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for your email.  Things are going well with the tutoring and Christian is a capable young man, as you say it will take time to see an improvement. Hopefully after that time, Kimberley will be feeling more confident.

John has been excellent with both lachie and william. We believe a full term of tutoring will greatly assist.

I think my biggest accomplishment while working with Ezy Maths was motivating my students to believe in themselves and try their best. I came to work with Ezy Math Tutoring because I wanted to gain an experience in teaching others as this would help develop my own leadership and organizational skills. I think that I gained a lot of confidence in guiding others and helping them believe in themselves. What's special about Ezy Math Tutoring is that they help guide you along the way while giving you the freedom of developing your own teaching skills and techniques.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Craigieburn Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mickleham Primary School.
