Firstly, the most important factor for a physics tutor is her/her knowledge in the field he/she is tutoring. I am proud that I have always tried so hard to learn as much as possible and got highest marks during my studies. Secondly, it is really important to know how to behave and how to transfer knowledge to a student. I am glad that I know how…

I believe in these times students lack I confidence and motivation of what learning really is about. They are continuously forced to learn new concepts quickly and they This works to a certain extent but I would pass on my knowledge as a friendly tutor giving the students clear explanations and the reason to learn. At the same time, I will…

i believe a physics tutor has to have a solid understanding of all content to provide the best support to a student, has to be patient, must know a range of way to approach a question, and must be readily available to answer questions through online or in person, and a tutor should be friendly and willing to have fun with the lesson so as it…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to be patient, understading and to listen. This allows for the student to be comfortable and be in a space where they can learn at an optimal rate and feel comfortable to ask any questions related to the work. I am understanding and have the ability to empathise with the student,…

The most important thing a physics tutor can give to a student, I would say is give hope and ease the path they are taking. I have been teaching and mentoring for more than 7 years, and it is nice to see where my students have reached. I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do is to be able to teach a student methods of learning. It is important not just for the student to absorb the information being taught but also for the student to be able to break down problems and information. Teaching this skill to students to then carry onto into their careers and personal…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to teach him the problem solving skills, and motivate him to apply his skills on any problem he faces. A tutor should be able to form a dynamic relationship with the student that the student can indulge in for effective motivation, determine the roots of the mathematical concepts they have a weakness with that the teacher couldn't, and find a simple yet interactive solution to strenghtening it. Just being a support for the student in question. Inside MillerTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ariana reviewed her school exam paper, focusing on angle relationships and probability, and practised recalling square roots and squares through quick-fire questions.

In Year 10, Jack worked on solving quadratic equations using the factorising method and interpreting functions by sketching their graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Liam tackled differentiation from first principles and applied the chain rule to a set of practice problems.

Recent Challenges

Ariana (Year 7) often leaves homework incomplete, especially revision sets covering earlier topics—recently, most Year 7 test questions were left unanswered.

Messy and unclear working in long division and graphing tasks has made it hard for teachers to follow her process; as noted, "her graphs are quite messy and hard to understand."

In exam settings, she struggles when notes are lost or not referred to—she forgot angle properties after misplacing her angles notes.

After setbacks or confusing lessons, Ariana can lose confidence quickly ("I can't," she said before eventually completing a long division question), making her hesitant to attempt new problems.

Recent Achievements

One Miller tutor noticed a Year 8 student who used to hesitate with long division now solving questions independently and even explaining her steps out loud—last session, she completed all homework without mistakes.

In a recent high school tutoring session, a Year 11 student who previously struggled with exam errors began identifying his own mistakes during revision, correcting them on the spot rather than waiting for guidance.

Another high schooler, after weeks of confusion over congruent triangles, was finally able to prove them unaided and started structuring his working much more clearly in his notes.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Dear Erica, Thank you for your email, with regards to the tutor we are happy with Anisa and Brendan is progressing nicely at this stage.

Thanks for the follow up.  We are happy with Aprinder and pleased with the progress Flynn is making.

We are really happy with Vivienne. She is very patient and explains things extremely clearly. Already had a 74% which for a child who is almost maths dialexic this was fabulous. Anyway we are very happy with her Thankyou

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Miller Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Therese Catholic Primary School.
