Listen to feedback. Make sure they understand what they are being taught and determine if a new approach is needed. Sometimes the same information can be summarised and presented in a different way that is just easier for some people to understand. My own capacity for learning. Information retention and comprehensive analysis. Communication…

Not just simple topic understanding but also inspiring the individual to continue to pursue an understanding in their studies in a holistic sense. My strength in mathematics by far. I'm currently completing a dual degree in business management and mathematics at UQ. I would also say i am quite personable and come across as very…

Inside MoorinaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Darell worked on identifying prime and composite numbers and practiced calculations with square and triangular numbers ahead of an exam.

In Year 9, Rebecca focused on simplifying ratios and solving rate problems by tackling unfinished homework questions together.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Joshua reviewed trigonometry concepts, including the sine and cosine rules, as well as transposing equations using targeted textbook revision to prepare for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often skipped writing down algebraic steps, as one tutor noted: "he skipped showing steps in equations, which led to confusion when checking for errors."

In Year 8 maths, a lack of consistent note-taking meant foundational formulas—like those for median and quartiles—were easily forgotten between lessons.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student tackling fractions sometimes worked only in her head instead of talking aloud or recording working; this made it harder to spot mistakes until they had already caused trouble.

One secondary student left revision until sessions, so topics didn't stick for exams or assignments.

Recent Achievements

A Moorina tutor recently noticed Joshua is now asking for help when he gets stuck on tricky algebra steps—whereas before, he would quietly move on without clarifying.

Rebecca (Year 9) showed new independence by identifying questions she didn't understand and then working through them after just one example.

Meanwhile, Summer in Year 4 has started tackling money and fraction problems mostly on her own; last session, she only needed a quick hint to finish her worksheet and confidently checked her answers herself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Sam's first session with Wahidah went really well. He really liked her and responded well to her teaching.

Riria had a great first session with Derek. Riria found Derek to be patient and clear with his communication making it easier for Riria to get her head around what is being asked of her in regards to her physics lessons and assessments.

Cameron has been enjoying the time spent with Ryan. They get along well. Cameron is gaining confidence, both in doing his maths work and asking for help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Burpengary Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Carmichael College.
