Modern History Tutor Gosnells, WA
Being kind and helpful to their needs. Listening to them and their parents. Being knowledgeable enough to help them or willing to learn to help them. Be a reliable source of help and help them as much as possible. Inside Mount RichonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Isabelle focused on trigonometry basics and solving quadratic equations, as well as revising exam papers to strengthen understanding.

In Year 10, Ethan worked through compound interest calculations and practiced applying the sine equation, using worked examples for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Sam tackled fraction multiplication and division before moving onto a brief introduction to quadratic equations and some hands-on geometry activities.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled to keep their notes organised during geometry revision, which made it hard to track errors and slowed down correction—"it would be nice to have notes ready, we can discuss notes organisation next time."

In Year 11, one student did not complete their worksheet and left some homework unfinished, missing out on vital practice for multi-digit operations.

For a Year 10 learner, over-reliance on the calculator during algebra meant working steps were skipped; this caused repeated sign mistakes that weren't caught until late in the session.

Each of these habits led to confusion or lost learning time.

Recent Achievements

A Mount Richon tutor recently noticed that a Year 10 student, who had previously struggled with trigonometry, became visibly more comfortable after working through targeted practice and even finished the tougher ratio questions using a basketball analogy—something he couldn't do before.

In Year 8, another student who used to keep quiet during sessions now comes prepared with her own questions and isn't afraid to ask for clarification when stuck, showing real initiative compared to earlier lessons.

Meanwhile, a primary schooler surprised her tutor by remembering how to convert fractions to percentages weeks after their last session and volunteered to tackle new fraction problems without hesitation.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are all very happy with Rebecca. Myself, my husband and especially Grace, which is wonderful. Rebecca and Grace's school teacher have spoken via email and are working together. I think it is too early to see any real progress, as you said we would expect to see a difference in the next couple of months. But for now we are glad Grace is getting the help she needs while enjoying the company of Rebecca.

Mitch has been so wonderful with Nick and is doing an amazing job tutoring Nick, especially getting Nick focused on completing his maths homework. He has worked with Nick so well and has established a great working relationship with him. His patient demeanor is certainly a strong attribute and has made tutoring for Nick so much easier.  Nick has commented several times that 'he has learnt more with Mitch today than he has all week with his teacher'.

I am delighted with Domenic's tutoring. I was concerned about how the tutoring would go because Jake struggles with a high level of anxiety but Domenic has put him at his ease.  He has engaged very well with my son, and is enthusiastic, encouraging, knowledgable and organised. He explains concepts in a way that Jake can grasp them: Jake has had at least one 'ah-ha' moment in every session. Domenic is also always punctual and polite. He has made a big difference already to Jett's confidence and performance at Maths. I look forward to having him continue to tutor Jake through his HSC.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Armadale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Armadale Senior High School.
