The most essential role of a chemistry tutor is to provide a clearer understanding of topics learnt in school, allowing them to comprehend certain aspects that may have found confusing, or unsure of. A tutor is also able to contribute to a student's performance through increasing their confidence in their school work, encouraging them to work hard…

Most important would definitely be effort towards a student. No student would want a chemistry tutor who does not have the best interest in them and would definitely not want a tutor who is giving 50% of their efforts. Another important thing a tutor can do for a student is show passion and that they care, and that they are someone the…

As a high school leaver, I consider providing support and trust as well as accurate academic knowledge to be the most important thing that a chemistry tutor can do for a student. Students do have teachers at school, therefore, the job of a tutor is to revise and trigger the knowledge of students, letting them realise their potential. I have…

At the end of the day, I value results as a chemistry tutor. Helping students meet their goals is key. Equally important is injecting fun into the learning process, making it more engaging and exciting for students, so they eagerly anticipate each session. As a tutor I have good problem solving skills to address any situation that arises.…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be available and willing to answer and encourage questions and critical thinking. Due to my ~6 years of experience in Army Cadets, I am able to maintain discipline amongst large groups and be able to firmly, but fairly, address any issues that may…

I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for their students is to develop relationships so that the student is entirely comfortable with being honest with the tutor about questions and concerns with academics, as well as beyond what is required by the curriculum. A tutor must be empathetic and patient, and this allows them to…

I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for their student is to try their absolute hardest to teach their student in their field. But equally important to this is to instill good habits onto their student and inspire them to try their best in their studies. I think my strengths as a tutor involve really caring for my student, and…

Overall, being there for a student which can greatly impact their learning, forming a bond that more or less they wouldn’t create with their teachers. The most important thing would be to give the student confidence in their learning and knowledge since without confidence, the student can crack under the pressure of exams. The ability to think outside of the box in order to help my students where if they don't understand it in one way, then it would be beneficial to explain to them in another…

I value honesty in tutoring. Student should not hide their lack of understanding in one topic. As a chemistry tutor, I can create a close teacher-student relationship, where my students can honestly share their difficulties. The most important thing a tutor can do is to realise when a student actually understands a topic, or if they need more help. Too often students will say that they understand but they don't want to admit they still don't. The tutor should be able to break down a subject in multiple ways, and choose which way fits particular students' learning…

Being supportive and understanding of the student's concerns is one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student. Inside Mount VernonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Jonathon practised reading tables and graphs, including picture graphs and two-way tables, then worked on using conjunctions in sentences.

In Year 9, Vangie focused on algebraic techniques such as rearranging equations to make a chosen variable the subject and applied these skills to questions involving trapezium dimensions.

For Year 11, Amaan tackled polynomials and learned to apply the quadratic formula through targeted examples from his current schoolwork.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled to show working consistently in algebra and trigonometry, as a tutor observed: "He needs to be disciplined when showing working for a question," which sometimes meant marks were lost even when answers were correct.

In Year 11 English, slow linking of ideas led to time management issues during short-answer analysis.

For a younger student (Year 4), handwriting remained difficult—writing on regular lines was much messier than on practice sheets, making it hard to read his work.

During senior maths revision, one Year 10 student relied heavily on looking back through notes rather than recalling processes independently, slowing progress.

Recent Achievements

One Mount Vernon tutor noticed a Year 11 student who used to rush through algebra tests now taking time to check his work, spotting and fixing minor mistakes without prompting.

In Year 10, another student initially struggled with using the sine and cosine rules for triangles but last week solved multi-step problems independently, even explaining why each step made sense.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 4 who previously hesitated to read aloud is now volunteering to summarise stories after reading them, showing clear progress in both fluency and willingness to engage.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We chose EzyMath Tutoring as that is the subject our daughter  most needed help with, and we decided to pick specialists in this subject over other tutors who seemed to do everything.  Our tutor Emma, was a uni student, very professional, friendly, she worked very well with our daughter.  Emma had lots of great tricks and tips for Madison to use in her studying and test-taking, broke some things down so they didn't seem so scary or overwhelming to our daughter.  Madison was much more confident in math class, homework was easier, she was more confident in taking exams.  It meant a lot to Madison and us, a lot less stress at home when it wasn't my husband or I trying to teach her with all the emotions that tend to go along with that.  I would recommend EzyMath tutoring to anyone looking to improve their math skills.

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes I am very happy with Sean, he has worked with Machlin through some difficult times and nothing has been a problem for Sean.

Thanks for asking So far so good Michael is great. Kane seems to be quite happy

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Green Valley Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Irfan College.
