A tutor should be patient and be flexible, able to adjust their lesson plan according to student needs. It is important that the tutor does not just talk AT the student, but allow them to respond and engage with the student, in a way that allows the student to integrate lessons on paper into daily life, and hopefully foster an interest in the…

The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to understand their students and the way they learn! This means bringing up different approaches to studying if one does not work for the student and ensuring that they are listened to and supported at all time! Tutors should not shame their students and work on more than just…

Firstly, being kind, patient and listening to the student matters the most. This is because not everyone is the same, not everyone has the same capacity to understand and grasp the concept. One student may understand it in a minute, whereas another may take 10. So its very important that the tutor is kind, patient and listens to the student.…

The old proverb comes to mind of: "Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime." I think the most important thing an english tutor can do is inspire the student, and not just equip them with English skills, but confidence and motivation. The most important thing is to believe in the…

The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is be understanding. Knowing how to teach a topic does not do much if a student is unwilling to learn, being understanding allows for a closer connection between a tutor and student and makes learning significantly easier. One of the defining aspects of an english tutor is to create a truely personalised learning for a student that take particular approaches to help better a student, not only in their academics, and in their improvement of grades, but to build confidence within themselves. The most important thing an english tutor can do is to empower a student in their capabilities. To remind them that they are extremely smart and capable. This encourages them to try their best. Being encouraging is the most important thing an english tutor can do for a student. A student who is made to feel comfortable and supported - in a way that is often impossible in a school setting with 30+ children - may feel motivated and empowered to take control of their education. Encouraging a student can ameliorate the stressful feelings…

I think the most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to teach the subject in their level of understanding and teach them the fundamentals. Sometimes it can be a challenge to explain some advanced theories especially to young minds but if we teach them to master the basics, then it would be easier for them to grasp future…

EzyMath Tutoring has provided excellent Tutors for our two children. With their help our daughter was successful in getting into the University course she applied for. Our younger son is also making excellent progress with his Maths tutor, who has developed a great rapport with him. He now has a new found confidence to complete his work.
Jenny, Narre Warren South

Inside Narre WarrenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 Danielle focused on solving worded problems involving integers and time, and was introduced to algebra with worksheets targeting unknown variables.

Year 6 Patrick worked through two-by-two multiplication as well as addition and subtraction strategies, using step-by-step examples for clarity.

For Year 8 Moss, recent sessions included writing essays in TEEL format—one on how bees impact ecosystems—and practising correct punctuation by reading aloud and editing his own work.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 mathematics, one student consistently omitted units and symbols in answers—she doesn't add her units or symbols which then ultimately makes the answer wrong—which led to confusion when marking multi-step problems.

A Year 10 student writing English essays relied heavily on copying research instead of using their own words, making it difficult to show true understanding and resulting in feedback about handwriting not rushing it so he can read his own writing.

In senior classes, incomplete homework was noted as a recurring issue; missed practice limited vocabulary growth and deeper analysis, especially when working with unfamiliar text types.

Recent Achievements

One Narre Warren tutor noted a big shift with Danielle, a high school student who now stops to ask clarifying questions whenever she's stuck on algebra word problems—instead of rushing through and missing key steps as she used to.

In another session, Patrick (also high school) was able to work out two-by-one multiplication almost independently after previously needing step-by-step guidance; he even recognised when he'd made an error and fixed it himself.

Meanwhile, a younger student recently started writing down unfamiliar words with translations during reading activities, something she hadn't done before, and finished her spelling test with only one mistake.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We asked for assistance on a short term basis to help with some exam preparation.  Our tutor was quickly able to assess our daughter's capability and provide practical assistance with problem solving and techniques. Most importantly the tutor instilled real confidence in our daughter's ability, offering encouragement, support and reinforcement all the way.  We would not hesitate to contact Ezy Math for our future needs.

We are very happy with the tutoring work that Adedayo has done with Harrison so far. He has quickly formed a great rapport with Harrison and are they working very well together. Adedayo has been very encouraging and has managed to give Harrison confidence in his abilities even though they have only had a few sessions together. Harrison looks forward to his tutoring and has positive approach to sitting down and working with Adedayo. We look forward to continuing the tutoring arrangements and positive outcomes for Harrison.

We are very happy with Aurelius, he has turned something that was "like another language" (according to Aaron) into something he understands and has found his first test easy. We intend to hold onto Aurelius for as long as he wants to coach Aaron.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bunjil Place Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Don Bosco School.
