Become a role model and help inspire them to become the best version of themselves. I want to be someone who can help them expand their horizon for learning. And understand that maths and science isn't their enemy. Studying isn't their enemy. I feel what's most important is being an educator not a grader. Patience, and repetition, never…

One of the most important things is to provide an engaging and interesting learning experience. The key limitation of a students motivation is their interest in the subject. As a result, I strive to make my lessons as exciting and engaging as possible to maximise their interest in learning. I am able to simplify complex ideas to allow my students…

A tutor must be able to connect with the student on many different levels whilst in the mean time also convey the concepts and ideas of the curriculum. I also believe that the tutor has a subjective responsibility toward each student, to be able to tailor a style of teaching for them because no two students are, or learn alike. My main strength as…

I believe that tutors should put their learner's motivation above all values, tutors should ensure that their learners believe they can achieve higher, individuals will not be motivated to learn if they do not believe in themselves, therefore I believe that first and foremost aspect a physics tutor must focus is the learner's mindset for their…

For me a physics tutor isn’t there to show student how to do the question but to guide them through it, make remarks on comment mistakes. Moreover an imporant aspect for a tutor is need to show student how mathematics impact our everyday life. When I was in high school, my friend always ask me questions on maths and physics. Therefore I know…

I think as a physics tutor the most important thing I would be able to do for a student is to empower them and give them the tools necessary for their own learning. Using a strength-based approach to show them how to learn in all situations so they can improve continuously. As a tutor one of my strengths is that I am able to communicate…

A tutor should understand the student's ability and capacity of learning. Then the tutor should teach the student in a particular way to make him understand the lesson in his unique way. I think i'm empathetic, honest and enthusiastic as a tutor. I have a good listening ability. I encourages independence in student so that they do not rely on the…

I believe enthusiasm and passion are important for a physics tutor, as these qualities can give a student drive and motivation to learn and improve. I also believe a tutor should impart not just academic knowledge, but also studying strategies and problem solving skills that will help them in the future. I am organized and motivated, which will…

To never mock or demean a student for any questions or doubts they have, even if they are considered “obviousâ€. A tutor should always strive to ensure that the students have a full understanding of a topic before they move on to the next. I am very patient and understanding of the fact that different kids learn at different speeds and…

I personally consider the interactive and "adaptive" aspects of being a physics tutor to be the most important things a tutor can do for their student. In my opinion, keeping the student engaged, such as through mini breaks or games between long sessions of work, is the most effective way of teaching them in a fun, yet informative manner.…

Tutoring can provide students with individual advice and help specific to each individual student. Unlike school classes, teachers are required to consider a wide range of skill levels, but tutoring does not need to follow the standard class procedures and designate a specific pace and content for students. Students are also able to receive…

Inside Narre Warren SouthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Sidiqa reviewed the basics of linear equations, including identifying variables and constants, and practiced solving for x using her maths textbook; she also discussed improving sentence and paragraph structure in English writing.

Year 11 Harvey tackled theory and calculations for volumetric analysis in chemistry, then worked through titration problems.

Meanwhile, Year 4 Tianna focused on division and decimals as well as tackling classwork questions on perimeter, reinforcing key arithmetic skills with practical examples.

Recent Challenges

Repeatedly leaving homework incomplete, as seen in "homework not completed again," limited the tutor's ability to review and address gaps before moving forward.

In Year 12, one learner arrived without a bound reference book or organized notes for SAC preparation; as a tutor noted, "there also needs to be more organisation…notes that are being provided by his teacher is not organised and is missing stuff."

During primary-level sessions, another student struggled with formatting their work—one note simply listed: "Formatting Knowledge base Confidence Memory Organisation."

These patterns meant valuable lesson time was spent re-covering missed material or searching for resources rather than building on existing knowledge.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Narre Warren South recently noticed some great steps forward with students across different year levels.

In one high school session, a Year 11 student who used to hesitate when faced with unfamiliar maths problems is now confidently tackling them on her own after just one guided example—she even keeps her working neat and asks for help right away if stuck, instead of waiting.

Another older student began using their notes more actively during sessions, independently applying formulas and problem-solving strategies that he previously avoided.

Meanwhile, a primary student who struggled to finish division homework now completes most tasks without prompting and checks her answers before moving on.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mo is a lovely girl and Ashleigh seems to be benefitting a great deal from her tutoring sessions with her. Ashleigh is fairly motivated and I'm sure by the time exams come around there will be a noticeable difference in her capabilities. Mo and Ashleigh interact quite well and Ashleigh is much more confident about what she is doing after her sessions. All in all, at this stage we couldn't be happier with the way things are going.

While my 4 Children were wary at first of doing  extra Maths, I was pleasantly surprised at their quick turnaround. Trinh was very patient and all 4 noticed their improved confidence and understanding in class, thank you!

Please be advised that I would like to cease the tutoring services of your company. My boy has greatly benefited from the tutoring of Robin who has shown great patience, ability and caring. I did inform Robin last night that I was not continuing with tutoring as I feel Liam is now back on the Maths track. If I need further assistance, I'll give you a call. Thanks (especially to Robin).

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hampton Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Waverley Christian College - Narre Warren South Campus.
