English Tutor Sunshine Beach, QLD
I think the biggest thing that an english tutor can do is to make the subject interesting for the student so that he/she actually enjoys doing it and does not run away from it. I am very patient and thus multiple queries do not frustrate. I love teaching and therefore I find it amusing to answer their questions. I have different approaches which…

English Tutor Sunshine Beach, QLD
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is give them the confidence and strategies for them to be able to eventually face the same challenges on their own. My strengths are building good rapport with students, identifying their areas of weakness and being flexible when having to change a lessons plan on the spot in order to…

Inside Noosa HeadsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student 112935 focused on advanced Engineering exam topics, including bending moments and truss design using a calculator, along with circuit theory and an introduction to nuclear physics.

Year 12 student 112937 worked through exponential probability distributions—specifically mean calculations using integrals—and also reviewed polynomial long division from Year 11 functions.

For primary, Year 4 student 16796 practised calculating percentages and ratios as well as understanding place value and working with decimals.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Engineering, one student relied heavily on school-provided resources during design tasks, rather than independently extending ideas or seeking clarification from teachers about assignment expectations—"he must actively ask and bombard his teachers with questions," noted a tutor.

Meanwhile, in a junior secondary maths session, incomplete research and avoidance of challenging problems stalled progress on both science and maths assignments.

For primary students, messy written work—including untidy number formation and inconsistent use of lines—made it difficult to follow solutions in basic arithmetic.

When planning or organizing tasks was overlooked, valuable lesson time was lost retracing steps instead of building new understanding.

Recent Achievements

One Noosa Heads tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who had previously doubted his maths abilities; after recent sessions, he now finds his subjects easy and is considering Mathematical Methods, a step up from where he started.

In Year 9, another student who used to rely heavily on help has begun completing algebraic rearrangement tasks independently, even plotting points on the cartesian plane without prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger student who often guessed spelling words now asks questions when unsure and recently wrote several sentences using correct punctuation all on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I know it is only early days but Harley and Owen seem to have '˜clicked'.  They are working really well and not only is Harley's confidence growing but also his understanding of the maths chapters they have been studying has improved.   I no longer have to hassle him to do his homework - always a bonus!

Henry has had 3 sessions with Justin so far, and it is going very well. His current topic is algebra and he feels that he is benefitting from the additional assistance. Justin is punctual, helpful (even stayed back an extra 10-15 minutes last week to help Henry with a problem-solving sheet) and is very pleasant to have around.

Thank you for your email.  I am really enjoying working with David, he makes the study fun and very interesting. We're working through some gaps in my knowledge and then I am greatly looking forward to getting into the much more complicated and exciting math.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Noosa Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Montessori Noosa.
