Apart from conveying knowledge, the most crucial thing a physics tutor can do is to make students feel good about the subject they are studying. When students have a positive mindset and feel confident, they are more motivated and engaged in the learning process. I possess a strong foundation and deep understanding of mathematics. Moreover, I can…

One of the most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is give them a personalised teaching experience. Often there are other factors at play in the progress of a student's learning than just their mental ability. Being able to recognise and connect to the child will open up numerous learning pathways to allow them to reach their…

I think communication is one of the most crucial skills. I believe every students, somehow, are capable of learning. So even though I don't have extraordinary skills to teach them, they will learn from my explanation. But I have to know where they are at the point of time to know exactly what and how I have to teach. Having an idea of what my…

I believe the most important things a physics tutor can do for a student can vary, depending on the student. For e.g I had a friend who's outlook on maths was very negative, he had despised it his whole life and every time we'd have maths h would just have a frown upon his face and his mood would change. I assumed this was because he had never…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to engage in thorough discussions about their thought processes, providing real-time feedback. I think the biggest benefit a physics tutor can have is to help instill in a student a sense of confidence in their ability to learn. Regardless of how much subject matter a student is able to retain, they will have a lot of learning to do beyond when they are being tutored, so I believe it is at least as important for students to be ‘learning…

I believe the most important aspect of tutoring is targeting a student's goal in a subject, whether that be just passing or scoring 100%, and teaching them at that level, whilst providing that extra push to potentially help them succeed above these goals. In doing so, I believe this allows students to engage more with the work and see strong…

The most important thing is to help the student work on their weak points in a specific subject area. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student, is to understand their obstacles, may it be a particular math topic or studying maths itself. A tutor must be able to guide their student through these obstacles in order for them to succeed in maths. By talking and discussing with the student, a tutor should be able to understand what method…

Inside North Curl CurlTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Leo practised times tables up to 12 and solved word problems involving vertices, faces, and edges.

For Year 9, Charlotte focused on coordinate geometry—finding gradients and equations of straight lines—and also revised statistics by interpreting data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sam worked through trigonometry topics such as bearings and angle of elevation, using diagrams to visualise real-world scenarios, alongside a session on differentiation basics.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student raced through coordinate geometry questions but skipped showing working, making it hard to spot calculation slips—"needs to slow down and show working," one tutor noted.

In Year 11 English, a reluctance to plan essays led to unclear topic sentences and weak evidence selection; this left paragraphs muddled when tackling module responses.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner grew impatient with multi-step money problems, often guessing rather than applying known strategies.

When revising times tables in Year 5, anxiety about mistakes caused over-erasing, leaving written work messy and incomplete by the end of the session.

Recent Achievements

One North Curl Curl tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to rush through exam questions is now taking time to check for "silly mistakes" after discussing his recent results, leading to fewer errors.

In Year 11 English, a student who previously struggled to connect ideas in essays has started using clearer PEEL structures and linking techniques, which showed up as stronger analysis in their latest draft.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who once hesitated with subtraction now completes problems much more quickly and confidently—she finished an entire set independently this week without needing prompts.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

So far so good with Amelia - she has always been punctual, professional and friendly and Mila feels comfortable with her.

I decided to work  for Ezy Math Tutoring because it seemed very flexible and would fit in very well with my university schedule. At first, I was only expecting to learn a bit about being a good communicator and be able to engage people but it was a lot more than that. The real highlight for me was that no matter the ability of the child you are teaching, the minute that they start to improve and get better grades, that is THE best reward you can get. My biggest highlight was when one of my students who had just finished his HSC told me that he got a whole 20 marks higher than he was expecting at first for his Maths exam and he thanked me for my time. I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to potential customers who want personalised help for their child and being assigned a tutor who cared as much as I did for my students to achieve their potential. As for potential tutors, this experience is so rewarding because you really do care for your students' progress and you develop skills that will help you for life.

I just wanted to let you know that Mila is very happy with her new tutor Amelia. She told me after her lesson tonight that Amelia is really helping her a lot, and that she is understanding concepts more clearly and feeling more confident in class and while doing homework.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Dee Why Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Curl Curl North Public School.
