A tutor's most important role is to listen, observe, and provide students with the necessary tools and strategies to learn effectively. By doing so, tutors can help students overcome academic challenges, develop lifelong learning skills, and foster a cycle of confidence, motivation, and success. To begin with, although I am relatively new to…

Plan ahead and work with the students to set small goals they can work towards a bigger goal at the end of the semester, so the process of learning is broken down into easier components. I am patient and a good listener. I really want to see the student succeed and think of new ways to help them learn and…

Helping students understand that they are capable of overcoming their difficulties with the subject. Helping them to identify what they need to improve in order to perform better. Teaching them that their efforts are worth it and that they can achieve their goals if they work hard. Many students give up before trying, so I think this is the first…

Give them confidence- either to have a crack at new questions or topics, or just continue to work and learn independently. Usually this is achieved by helping students find a way to enjoy the subject. I'm a good communicator and very empathetic. I've always been told I'd be an excellent teacher- my habit is to always make sure a tutee has…

A tutor is somebody who is most significantly; approachable. While a student can learn from a thousand different ways , a tutor is meant to expose them to those ways so that they achieve their goals. Keeping the deadlines in check, their is a responsibility to make sure that all of the essential learning is checked off the list to…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen. I believe listening is very important since if you don't listen to your student, or get them to explain concepts for themselves, you won't be able to deduce which areas to focus on. One of my weaknesses as a tutor would have to be that if my student is having difficulty,…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is make sure that a student is able to understand why they do everything they are doing and then apply it to all questions in particular worded questions which can be rather difficult to comprehend. I don't focus on answers but rather I focus on the method and developing a more in depth…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to listen to the student, as well as teaching. Encouraging the student to provide their input on a topic without having any pretentious predelection will allow the student to become more confident in their learning. I have the ability to gage the student's difficulty and work with them from that level.…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to explan or simply the difficult concepts in a manner the student understands, and to build their confidence while doing a problem in which they are likely to make mistakes and also teaching them how to be patient if they are unable to solve something and how to go on forward from that…

To me, one of the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give the student confidence. When a student gains confidence that they can do it, they will be more willing to put effort and also do better in their examinations. Inside Nudgee BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Mia reviewed a general assessment and then focused on class project work about probability, including interpreting chance scenarios.

Year 8 student Zayn practiced solving maths word problems and edited his own narrative writing for clarity and structure.

For Year 9, Bella worked on algebra problem-solving skills alongside mental maths tasks to boost her confidence with equations and quick calculations.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Science, submitting an incomplete draft meant feedback on the student's experimental write-up was limited and couldn't target higher-level improvements.

For a Year 11 Physics assessment, "needs data for experiment to continue assessment"—progress stalled until missing results were gathered and processed.

In Year 7 Maths, skipping clear layout led to confusion: as one tutor put it, "he writes all over the page," making errors harder to spot when solving equations.

Meanwhile, in Year 4 English, struggling to organize ideas for persuasive writing resulted in rushed arguments that lacked detail and clarity.

Missed steps like these often leave students feeling stuck mid-task.

Recent Achievements

One Nudgee Beach tutor noticed Kailyn, a Year 11 student, now breaks down complex probability questions and recalls key formulas much faster than earlier in the week—she's gone from hesitating over worded problems to working through tree diagrams with real independence.

Zayn in Year 6, who once rushed and missed details, has started slowing down to read instructions carefully and edit his writing after feedback, showing stronger self-correction skills.

Meanwhile, Porscha (Year 4) recently recognised patterns in maths problems and began identifying which equation to use without waiting for hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We have been very happy with Ameya , he has been well prepared, punctual and very committed to his work with Emma... I would happily recommend both Ezy Math tutoring and Ameya to people.

Shannon is delighted with Daniel and I can already see measurable results. She appears more confident.  We are more than happy to continue with him. I just need to work out  which plan to choose. When do I need to decide this?

Jason is a very nice young man who is always prompt and seems well prepared for each lesson. Charles  enjoys his tutoring so far and seems to be gaining a little more confidence.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Banyo Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Patrick's College.
