Ancient History Tutor Nuriootpa, SA
The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to listen to their concerns and also find the gaps in knowledge they have to be able to work with them and focus on helping to learn what they are struggling with to help them through their education. The strengths I have as a tutor are that if I do not know the answer to something, I would…

We have been using Ezy maths for the last 6 weeks and my son has had a great improvement in his results. His confidence is up and he is eager to learn. So very happy our tutor is pleasant and supportive. Keep up the good work

Inside NuriootpaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Jai explored skip counting by 3s and 6s using outdoor pavers, and practised telling the time on an analogue clock, linking it to his 5 times tables.

Year 7 student Alyssa focused on comparing and simplifying fractions as well as tackling worded questions about perimeters in her Maths Pathways modules, often highlighting key information to help interpret questions.

Meanwhile, Elysia (Year 10/TAFE) consolidated her understanding of BODMAS with long multiplication and division, practised converting fractions to decimals using division, and developed strategies for backchecking her answers for accuracy.

Recent Challenges

For a Year 11 TAFE student, irregular lesson attendance meant "with a month's gap between our lessons, Elysia had forgotten parts of the process of converting fractions to decimals," requiring substantial review time and slowing advancement toward assessment topics like percentages.

In Year 8 Maths, Alyssa improved accuracy by backchecking her work but occasionally skipped writing working out for worded problems—"sometimes she needs to take a bit more time and be careful to write down parts of the working out."

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student often guessed answers in Prodigy rather than checking or drawing diagrams, leading to repeated mistakes before understanding set in.

Recent Achievements

One Nuriootpa tutoring session saw a high school student, Elysia, move from feeling uncertain about BODMAS to independently talking herself through each step and even creating her own "cheat sheets" to use in future assessments.

Another secondary student, Alyssa, who used to make small mistakes by working too quickly in her head, has started writing out every step for tricky fractions—her accuracy noticeably improved as she now double-checks answers before moving on.

Meanwhile, younger learner Jai surprised his tutor by choosing to keep working on challenging subtraction questions for nearly an hour straight, showing much greater focus than previous weeks and finishing all the NAPLAN practice problems he set himself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

El-Abed is doing s great job. El-Abed has managed to get my daughter, Faith, to agree to a 90min session weekly which should work well as she has some work to do.

Sophie is already getting alot out of her tutoring. Jessica is fantastic and has quickly got to know what Sophie needs. We will definately be staying.

Michael came yesterday & is quite a competent & friendly boy whom Zoe worked quite well with.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nuriootpa Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Nuriootpa Primary School.
