I believe that the most important things a physics tutor can do for a student are to Identify and address areas of weakness of a student, Provide guidance and support, Create a safe and supportive learning environment, Build confidence and motivation, Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills: Tutors possess several strengths that make…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do is help students believe in themselves. When students feel confident, they learn faster and are more willing to try. Every student learns differently, so the there is one more important thing, to understand each student’s needs and adjust teaching methods to fit them I’m good at breaking down…

Although it is highly important that a physics tutor teaches their students the material covered in the syllabus, it is equally as important that the tutor teaches their students the tools required to succeed in a competitive academic environment. As a tutor, I instil in my students a great work ethic, teaching them highly effective study and time…

Physics Tutor Cooloongup, WA
Fundamentally, a physics tutor must be able to pass on their knowledge to students such that they can progress academically. This should be accompanied by helping and testing the students where necessary. I prefer to break down complex concepts into smaller ideas, which can then be used as a foundation for understanding and applying the actual…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to explain it so they understand what you're saying, and then give them time to figure it out on their own with out being given the answer, and without time constraints. I also think that making them feel comfortable to ask for help is very important, because if they don't ask…

Providing individualised attention, creating a welcoming study space, and giving students the tools they need to become self-directed learners are among the most valuable services a tutor can provide a student. My strengths as a tutor are rooted in my dedication to self-improvement and my motivation to seek out novel approaches within my…

Physics Tutor Hammond Park, WA
In my opinion, two things should be expected from a tutor. The first is fairly obvious, and that is good quality teaching. Without this, a student would gain very little from their time with the tutor. The other being, time and effort. I personally believe this is as important as the first because a driven and motivated tutor would not only teach,…

Really benefitting the student, not just by teaching them the content in the school subjects but also by teaching them about how to operate and be successful in general. For example teaching things like work ethic, scheduling, time management, how to learn efficiently, how to stay calm under pressure and stress management. I believe there is a lot…

Inside OreliaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Michael focused on probability scenarios and algebraic expressions, working through bracket expansion using targeted notes for an upcoming test.

For Year 9, Sophie reviewed the differences between sequences and series, identifying recursive rules and applying formulas for both nth term and sum of series with practice from textbook exercises.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Aiden practised multiplication tables alongside reinforcing addition skills by exploring number lines and connecting repeated addition to basic multiplication concepts.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student's lesson highlighted that keeping notes scattered across slides and websites left her "without a clear overview of what she needs to learn," making it hard to plan revision or find key examples before tests.

In Year 11 Maths, calculations were sometimes not fully written out—"her reasoning couldn't be checked"—so feedback on mistakes was missed, especially in trigonometry and indices.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner had difficulties laying out two-digit addition and subtraction clearly; this muddled presentation slowed progress in homework reviews and meant time was spent untangling errors rather than moving ahead with new material.

Recent Achievements

One Orelia tutor noted a high school student who previously struggled with showing his maths work has started writing out his calculations step by step, resulting in far fewer errors and greater independence.

Another secondary student, after initially guessing through problems, now actively asks for clarification when stuck—a big shift from her earlier reluctance to seek help.

At the primary level, a Year 3 child who used to avoid homework has begun completing assignments regularly and is even trying to illustrate ideas from texts on her own initiative.

In their last session, she read an entire page aloud with noticeably clearer voice than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Joshua feels comfortable with Linh so far, which is fantastic. His teaching skills are impressive! Very happy so far...

Eddy is really happy with Amy! I am so pleased to advise he has quickly built a rapport with her and has been really positive following their tutoring sessions.

My son and myself are greatly satisfied with the work that Jacqualine is putting forth to my son Tyler, he looks forward to every session. Jacqueline is professional, explains the following subjects until my son grasps on but also makes learning enjoyable. Not only myself by Tyler's teacher has seen an improvement with his confidence when completing a math's task at school. I believe we are in the process of having Tyler's teacher also liaise with Jacqueline to make this process a easier transition.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kwinana Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Orelia Primary School.
