At the fundamental level an economics tutor's role is to make sure that a student understands the material. Therefore, the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to go over mistakes made in previous tests/assessments and ensure the student has a good understanding of the previously covered topics and principles before moving on.…

To help the student form a routine and improve performance in the school. Teaching the skill of learning and eventually working towards independence is very important to me. When a student develops inner strength to learn, half of the work is done. Specially in Maths i like to analyze any gaps and help the student to bridge these gaps first. To…

A tutor has to want the student to succeed in what they're learning. It's important to know specifically where the student is struggling in order to help them. It would be remiss not to mention that there is a positive impact on the students' performance in school as well. If I explain something and the student doesn't understand, I'll find…

The most important things an economics tutor can do for a student go beyond simply teaching content. It's about fostering a supportive learning environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively engaging with the material. Also, building confidence and instilling a growth mindset are crucial, as they…

A good tutor should give to every student: 1- an understanding of the principles in the material; 2- the tools to tackle the material with confidence - typically inductive or deductive reasoning; and 3- an appreciation for the subject. As a homeschool parent I'm always learning new ways to teach STEM. Now semi-retired, I'm a mathematician…

One of the best qualities of an economics tutor is to create a personal connection to your student. One of the most important things an economics tutor can do is to give a student a sense of confidence in his/her abilities. It is easy for students to get discouraged and give up; a tutor is the person who helps the student keep going. I am patient and can see where a student is confused over a concept and am able to break down the problem for…

I believe being calm and understanding of the student and their individual circumstances is a very important aspect when tutoring. Further, having an adequate understanding of what the student is trying to achieve and what areas they would like to focus on would be very important, along with knowing what methods of learning work for them. Finally,…

Give them the resources to be their best student. Rather than just giving them the answer outright, set up a pathway for them to solve their problem themselves. I think the most important thing an economics tutor can do is to make the student more confident in themselves which motivates them in their studies so they succeed. Inside PadburyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Daniel practised solving quadratic equations and expanding brackets using the FOIL method, as well as collecting like terms for simplification.

In Year 10, Chloe worked through factorising quadratic expressions and examined relationships between parallel and perpendicular lines in linear equations, including drawing connections to their slopes.

For a Year 6 session, Leo received guidance on his HASS report about the importance of coastal environments, focusing on structuring ideas clearly within his assignment.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, a student left homework (indices and tree diagrams) at school and struggled with calculator instructions for algebraic solutions; this meant valuable lesson time was spent troubleshooting rather than practicing.

For a Year 10 student, "work in notebook not showing steps so of no use when reviewing," leading to confusion during revision for factorisation.

A senior student's sparse class notes and missed homework sheets made it difficult to prepare for upcoming tests.

In English (Year 7), another student's arguments lacked cohesion due to rushing written responses without outlining ideas first—impacting essay clarity under timed conditions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Padbury noticed Danielle, a Year 10 student, has begun finishing her maths practice tests much faster than before and now gets a higher percentage of questions correct—just last session, she completed the test on time with only minor errors.

Meanwhile, Holly (Year 8) had previously struggled with supplementary angles but was visibly more decisive this week, working through those problems after just a little prompting.

In Year 3, Sam surprised his tutor by tackling new maths content independently rather than waiting for help and even volunteered to try extra challenge questions at the end of their session.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Luke was a great tutor and we appreciate everything he did. Overall we were completely satisfied and would be happy to recommend your service.

In regards to Manisha and the help she provided lsabella last year, my husband and I were very happy with the improvement in Isabella's maths results.  Manisha was able to explain things in a way that she could understand in a non judgemental way, gave her some great examples to work with and was available for questions any time.  Isabella's confidence in her maths improved as a result of all of Manisha's efforts. Before we came to you, Isabella disliked maths intensely and had no confidence in the subject.  The more comfortable she became, she was able to assist her classmates who were struggling. I would be more than happy to recommend Ezymath if the opportunity arises.

Devina is fantastic, I am so happy with Josh's progress to the point where he got the Maths award last week for his efforts!!!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Whitford Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like South Padbury Primary School.
