Not give the answers but help support the learning process and give guidance when the child needs it most. There is a difference between doing all the work for the child and actually teaching how the problem can be approached and observing how the student does it him/herself. If the child is stuck on a concept, it is my responsibility to help the…

Patience and kindness. There is no learning without failure, and as an educator, the best thing you can do is to give your students an emotionally safe environment to fail in. As a tutor remaining persistence and professional are two important qualities that I bring to any student I teach. Any student can learn and understand their true potential, this comes through clarity and how you explain things in a way that makes in easy to understand since all students learn in a different way. And I take this approach to ensure…

The most important things a tutor can do is help the student gain a proper understanding of concepts to aid all their personal study and school work. They should work to build a passion for the subject in the student so they begin to enjoy the study rather than see tutoring and studying as a hassle, which will help their exam performance…

To me, a tutor is someone that can not only prepare a student in the classroom but to prepare them for life. Learning skills allow for the child to develop their own interests and pursue them further beyond the idea of exams and tests. I hope that my valuable skills allow for students to become high achievers, both in the academic situation and…

I believe a good tutor is able to maintain a healthy relationship with their student so they can comfortably ask questions and receive help. I believe that a tutor should not just provide answers to a problem, but should guide the student to reaching that solution and ensure that they are able to understand the necessary steps. They should also be able to change the way they teach according to the needs of their students, as not everyone learns the same way. A tutor should be…

Something I believe is important is fostering a passion within the student for the subject, being the reason why someone starts to like something, become passionate, and work hard from their heart rather than from external sources. I would love to help students find genuine interest in Maths and Chemistry as much as I did. I try experimenting with…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student isn't to just teach them the content, but instill a certain way of thinking. This way of carrying yourself can be summed up in five words: the relentless pursuit of knowledge. I wish to bring that mindset to the students I tutor so they not only make the most of their learning in the…

It is very important for the tutor to build their students confidence by celebrating their progress and encouraging their efforts. Local Reviews

Communication is great between the company and myself. My only comment is that I don't take enough time to evaluate what is sent to me which of course in my problem. Nathan, the tutor we have for our grandson is fantastic, he has helped him gain a much better understanding of his maths and already his exam results has demonstrated an improvement. Dylan is working towards achieving a high result in his HSC and his year eleven results are looking good.

Inside Padstow HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student James focused on revising algebra and the Pythagoras theorem, reinforcing problem-solving through targeted practice.

For Year 12, Nahyan worked on calculus questions from Sydney Grammar's 2020 Trials paper and reviewed areas of difficulty from her recent exam.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sophia tackled probability concepts with and without replacement, using step-by-step examples to clarify differences between each scenario.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in Physics and Maths was observed not consistently recalling key formulae or algebraic identities from memory, making it harder to tackle exam-style questions under time pressure—"he needs to commit a couple of important formulae/identities to memory."

In senior years, another student switched from challenging trigonometry problems to easier practice, missing exposure to trickier applications.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner left some working unrecorded in BODMAS problems; when errors occurred, there was no written trail to review. This led to repeated corrections during sessions rather than smooth progress into new material.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Padstow Heights recently noticed a big shift with Jacob (Year 12), who previously hesitated on tough calculus but now works through challenging integration and differentiation problems almost independently, even tackling past exam questions without freezing up.

In Year 11, Nahyan started pausing to check her own mistakes rather than waiting for hints—she completed a whole set of trig and integration questions solo and quickly corrected any errors herself.

Meanwhile, one younger student who used to struggle with times tables is now recalling them accurately during lessons, moving on to worded multiplication problems without stopping to count.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Padstow Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Padstow Heights Public School.
