Science Tutor Louth Park, NSW
To be reliable and efficient. As a tutor, I need to be able to make sure that the student knows how I am going to help them. I believe that practice creates better students. Repetition of hard topics is also a must. A tutor needs to create a healthy relationship with the student in order to ensure that they can help them improve. This includes…

Ezymath were responsive and found us a tutor quickly. But the first two tutors weren't the best fit. Third time lucky!

Inside Pelaw MainTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Lucas worked on using the column method to add and subtract large numbers up to hundred thousands, and was introduced to basic probability by discussing real-life examples and simplifying fractions.

In Year 8, Sarah focused on algebraic skills such as adding and subtracting algebraic fractions, as well as factorising quadratic expressions and solving them with the quadratic formula.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily tackled trigonometry by finding equations of tangents and normals for linearisation problems in introductory calculus.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student's written work became difficult to follow—numbers were not lined up and working was left off the page, especially during long division. She often forgot where she was up to in the calculation, which led to confusion and hesitation.

In Year 10 English, another student repeatedly skipped drafting an essay plan, making it hard to organize ideas or link quotes effectively. This meant time was lost rewriting sections rather than refining arguments.

During Year 11 Chemistry revision, over-reliance on mental calculations instead of showing steps resulted in errors that weren't caught until after marking.

Recent Achievements

One Pelaw Main tutor recently noticed Rylan, a high school student, take the initiative to research relevant statistics and details for his exam revision sheet—something he previously avoided, showing real independence.

Another secondary student, Shay, who used to rely on trial-and-error with algebraic equations, now solves them confidently by following each step without guessing.

Meanwhile, Annie in Year 11 successfully ran her own survey for a research project, gathering over 100 responses within days and efficiently organising the data herself for analysis.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

With an interest in communicating the knowledge i've learnt, I looked towards tutoring. It was an opportunity to not only help student learning from personal experience, but improve upon the knowledge of subjects I'm interested in. With encouragement and providing opportunities to improve tutoring skills, Ezy Math tutoring was a perfect place to start my tutoring career. 18th July 2012

Working with Ezy Math Tutoring was great because all tutors are continuously supported in various ways. It is not only a teaching experience but also a learning experience. Tutors gain skills through work, weekly training and materials online. The continuous communication between tutors, students, parents and Ezy Math Tutoring is very important and valuable. 19th July 2012

Throughout my employment I received many helpful pieces of information from Ezy Math Tutoring, which detailed clever teaching strategies and techniques to help my students achieve their best. Using lesson plans to organise and prepare for my lessons is something that I was encouraged to do by Ezy Math Tutoring, which I hadn't used with students previous to my time with this company. This was very helpful both for me to have a clearer idea of my goal for each lesson, and also for my students to better understand what our aims were each week. During my employment it was evident that Ezy Math Tutoring always sought the satisfaction and best for its students as well as its tutors. It was a pleasure to work with this company. 19th July 2012

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kurri Kurri Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Pelaw Main Public School.
