I firmly belive in the fact that a good teacher is your last mistake. I really think, a tutor can help students grasp various concepts and help them to achieve their goals. Also, apart from studies, a tutor also is like a ray of hope. They help students get that positive psychology that "yes, someone is here to help me out". A tutor can…

I think the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to build their confidence in a subject area. A student with more confidence will feel comfortable with the subject matter and will be able to apply it to a wider variety of questions and problems. Attaining this confidence can be achieved through a number of methods such as:…

It is important to recognize the influence an instructor can have on a pupil. You might be the reason a student gains a stronger sense of self-worth or purpose at school. You might be the one to direct a student towards the right and just route that leads to fulfilment and success. You might be able to inspire a student to follow their area of…

Inside PenningtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Elousia worked on multiplication tables up to 12 and practiced book review writing with a focus on punctuation and vocabulary choice.

For Year 9, Caitlin focused on multiplying indices and applying index laws, along with practicing negative indices through targeted questions.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sienna revised applications of integration by tackling practice problems ahead of her upcoming test.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Maths, a student sometimes left working steps out—"too much pen and paper," as noted—which led to missed errors in factorising. This habit meant more time spent retracing work instead of progressing to new concepts.

In Year 11, another student delayed starting assignments and felt "bored" by lengthy research tasks, resulting in rushed last-minute efforts that limited depth.

Meanwhile, a primary-level writer hesitated to use literary techniques or punctuation confidently; "minor struggles" with spelling disrupted her flow when composing stories.

Each scenario reflected how process habits shaped confidence and outcomes at critical moments in their learning.

Recent Achievements

A Pennington tutor noticed Sienna, a high school student, taking more initiative by preparing questions ahead of time and actively revisiting past topics to clarify misconceptions—something she was hesitant to do before.

Jaeda, also in high school, moved from needing constant prompting to independently managing her assignments; last week, she finished her maths investigation with thoughtful suggestions on how to improve it.

In Year 4, Elouisa shifted from relying on step-by-step instruction in writing tasks to confidently choosing her own homework focus and expanding on ideas with less guidance than ever before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mina helped me to improve considerably so that I felt confident and capable going into my final year 12 exams.

Mina was excellent in helping my son with last-minute HSC exam preparation. Thanks Mina

Kicking myself for not starting tutor earlier! It would have helped tremendously with Jayden's studies and being able to work independently!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Civic Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Pennington School R-6.
