Engineering Studies Tutor Banksia Grove, WA
I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to slow down when explaining questions and always providing different approaches to problems. My strengths as a tutor are providing many different types of ways to understand problems. I have also found that I can connect with many students, which alllows them to feel comfortable…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, keep learning engaging, and tailor lessons to their individual needs. Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they doubt themselves—so creating a relaxed, supportive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes is…

Very easy process from initial contact and connection with the tutor. It was a great match and my son connected with the tutor straight away. Looking forward to some pleasing results.

Inside PinjarTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Islay completed work on calculating probability and displaying answers as decimals, then applied these skills in a Year 9 statistics test focusing on mean, mode, median, and range.

For Year 8, Jayden practised expanding single, double, and triple brackets and revised negative numbers through mixed arithmetic operations.

Meanwhile, Year 7 student Olivia worked on identifying factors and multiples before simplifying improper fractions into mixed numbers during a problem-solving "escape room" activity.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student working on algebraic equations often tried to solve problems in their head, saying "I can do this without writing," but missed steps and made sign errors as a result—this led to confusion during multi-step questions.

In Year 10, one student showed strong understanding when revising trigonometry, but didn't consistently write down formulas at the start; as noted, "he got lost mid-question and couldn't retrace his process."

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student avoided asking for help in class even when unsure, leading to gaps that resurfaced in homework review.

When focus slipped during test practice in noisy spaces (Year 11), accuracy dropped sharply.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Pinjar recently noticed Isla begin to ask specific questions during maths sessions instead of hesitating in silence—a big change from her earlier reluctance.

Another secondary student, Muhammed, started showing his working out on pen and paper for each step after previously skipping over details; this has helped him tackle tricky multiplication tasks with much more accuracy.

Meanwhile, one Year 5 student who struggled with planning their English writing now eagerly uses the new structure without reminders and managed to complete a full persuasive plan independently by the end of the lesson.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thought I would drop you an email to let you know Aaron took his first lesson with the boys last night and everything seemed to go very well.  Brook and Lewis both commented on how the learning methods given were helpful and will hopefully put these in place. Thank you and hopefully this will be a turning point in the boys attitude towards this subject.

Mo was a fantastic tutor for my son,Joe.  She was patient and adjusted her her teaching pace according to Joe's needs in the various areas that needed work.  Mo explained everything carefully and made sure Joe fully understood everything without making him feel uncomfortable. Joe and I are so grateful for her help and I will be sure to call on her again if the need arises.

Yes, Isabel was a good choice , they get on well, and Freya says that she is good at explaining things in a way she can understand.
