I think the most importing things a tutor can do for a student is to understand them and assist them in anyway possible to reach their full potential. I think my strengths as a atutor would be being able to understand a students needs and willing to work with them the way they want to so that it is easier for them to understand and learn and to…

The most important thing a tutor can teach a student is that learning can be fun. Having an inquisitive nature and the desire to pursue lifelong learning a trait I possess and something I would like to teach. Time management, organisational skills and analytical thinking are other important things I teach my students. A tutor can also be another…

The most important thing for a tutor is to not feed the student to information but to guide them as they learn. It's to teach the students how to learn independently and invoke within them a passion and a want for more learning and knowledge. To show students that studying is not a chore but a tool and a privilege that they can use. As a young…

In my perspective the best thing the tutor can do for the student is to understand the child completely, make a good bond with them and help them to learn infinite things. My strengths as a teacher are I understand the child by the face expressions, my teaching concept is pretty much strong and before teaching any child I make sure to plan the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student/s is to show that they have a genuine interest in what they want to accomplish and make them feel that the tutor is willing to do everything in their power to reach their goals. I have had many experiences with teachers and tutors during my HSC years and most of them would end up explaining the questions. This was an issue for me as I might end up understanding that questions but I wouldn't be able to understand other questions as I didn't understand the concept. Therefore, the most important thing a tutor can do is help…

Focus on his weaknesses and try to overcome them. I think it is really essential to maintain a genuine environment under which students an freely ask about their queries. So, most importantly, a tutor should build a genuine atmosphere of learning. I can easily be understood and my ways to explain things are great. In a teaching environment, it is…

Teaching the content required within a particular subject is only the start of what a tutor can do for their student, but teaching them how to apply everything they have learned to not only the subject at hand but how they are tested within that subject. Since going through the HSC I have learned that some subjects teach content in a very…

Inside PlumptonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Georgia focused on HSC-style trigonometry questions and revising her recent exam paper, targeting past mistakes.

For Year 11, Zara worked through differentiation using first principles as well as algebraic equations from her school maths assignment.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Daniel practised probability questions from previous HSC papers and explored applications of trigonometry in bearings problems, often using real-world scenarios to reinforce concepts.

Recent Challenges

Several process-related challenges were observed across different year levels.

In Year 9, one student left homework incomplete for over two weeks, causing her to forget recently taught algebra skills; as the tutor noted, "this was shown through the lesson today."

A Year 11 student's exam performance suffered due to poor time management—he rushed only near the end, missing easy marks earlier.

In Year 7 mathematics, written work often lacked clear layout and full working out, especially on multi-mark problems, making it hard to spot where understanding broke down.

When assignments or practice were delayed or skipped, progress slowed and confidence dipped.

Recent Achievements

A Plumpton tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student, Ryan, who used to leave tricky HSC-style questions blank, now attempts every problem and explains his reasoning out loud—even when unsure.

In Year 9 maths, Ali has started tackling differentiation proofs with less hesitation, remembering key identities without needing reminders like before.

Meanwhile, Shay in Year 5 managed the extension section of her homework with minimal help after previously struggling to stay focused; she finished all tasks without distraction and got nearly every answer right on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very happy with the tutoring services we are receiving through your company and my daughters tutor, Alfred. Alfred has been very flexible in fitting in with Jayda's schedule and learning needs and we foresee a lengthy tutoring relationship.

Dania our tutor is a blessing! My daughter is able to open up to Dania and has managed to engage conversations/ relationship/ trust and so just after a few lessons she's now able to have a better understanding of maths concepts where as before she was really struggling to comprehend it. Although my daughter still has much more to learn I'm confident that Dania will be able to take her to the next level.

We had our 1st session tonight with David and it went really well. My son connected with him immediately even though he was nervous about tutoring and didn't really want to do it prior to tonight. After he had his session with David he said it was fun! I was pleasantly surprised to hear him say that and he asked that David come back next week instead of waiting a fortnight! We are very happy so far.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Plumpton Public School.
