Making sure that student is having fun while learning. That way, they are learning things by heart. For me, being able to connect to people with different backgrounds is very essential in tutoring. Just by simple smile can do a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their students is make sure that the students understand the concepts thoroughly. It is so important for students to understand the concepts rather than just solving questions in a particular order and hoping for the best. A tutor should be able to provide students with a safe space so they feel…

I think one of the most important aspects is to be patient with the student. Its important to understand that each student is different, and create an environment that is comfortable for them to ask questions without feeling belittled or shunned. It takes great patience to achieve this; its important to go over aspects multiple times if needed,…

Be understanding and patient which can allow the student to form a comfortable bond with the tutor and feel more free to ask questions. This can allow efficient sessions. My strengths are that I'm a quick learner and able to adapt concepts that are easier to understand which can allow me to teach to other students in an easier…

I believe it is important to build strong connections with the students, enabling the learning to be truly personalised where the tutor can teach to the student's strengths. I am very flexible and able to adapt to the learning style of each student to best suit their needs. This may include how we approach content or explaining it in other ways…

The most important things I believe a tutor can do for their students is have an incredible amount of empathy and patience, as it can make the students themselves feel more comfortable within the learning environment, which in turn can help them feel more motivated and secure around their tutor when they find something challenging to understand.…

It is vital to have patience, sympathy, and empathy with students who are struggling to understand the topic at hand. It is also imperative for myself to revise over the content days prior to the tutoring session and prepare notes and example problems to demonstrate to the student. I must also know what the current student's strengths and…

Being willing to help, but also acknowledge the rare instances where a tutor may be unable to help to a confident level. I believe it is better to acknowledge if you do not know something rather than pretend you do and risk teaching something that is incorrect. When this problem is encountered, however, it is up to the tutor to rectify this by…

Local Reviews

Very easy to get started. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Quick service with the actual tutor calling almost the next day to sort out when available. Big improvement in my Year 9 child's math studies. It has really helped her to understand Maths; with her knowledge being quite basic to start with. Was failing and within 3 months got her first pass in a major math test.

Inside Point CookTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Daniel focused on solving linear equations and modelling real-world scenarios with them, along with annuity and interest calculations in financial mathematics.

In Year 11, Emily worked through Math Methods Unit 1 and 2, tackling polynomials, functions, and the application of quadratic equations using chapter-based exercises.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Josh practiced Further Maths matrices modules—transposing matrices and interpreting networks—and reviewed past exam papers to strengthen problem-solving speed and accuracy under timed conditions.

Recent Challenges

Several students in both primary and secondary years relied heavily on calculators or online modules instead of practicing key maths operations by hand, especially with algebra and negative numbers.

For example, one Year 8 student was encouraged to "do more pen and paper practice rather than relying on Math Pathway modules" after missing steps in factorization exercises.

In VCE Maths Methods, another student's messy working made it hard to spot errors before tests—"a dedicated workbook to write the steps in detail" was suggested for clarity. This sometimes led to extra time spent retracing unclear calculations during revision sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Point Cook tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after weeks of mixing up steps, is now carefully listing every stage of advanced algebra factorisation before checking answers—he'd previously skipped straight to solutions and made small errors.

A Year 12 student has started timing herself on statistics extended-response questions; she used to get stuck for ages but now completes each in under fifteen minutes, which is a real change in her exam readiness.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student who often guessed at tricky spellings now points out when she's unsure and asks for help spelling new words aloud during lessons.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Even though Brendan only has Gennady for a short time, but I can see a great improvement in his maths, also he seem to be more confident.  The feedback I got from Brendan is Gennady was very easy to understand, he tend to explain thing in a simple way, we tried many tutors before and wasted so much of his time.  I definitely recommend him for VCE specialist maths.

I would like to thank you for providing a wonderful service to us.  We were recommended to you by a friend of my daughters and this being the first time we had sought a tutor, we weren't really sure what to do or how to go about it.  You made the whole process simple and easy for us.  Even though the initial tutor didn't relate to my daughter, there was no problem with us changing to another tutor.  This wonderful young woman was just the right person for my daughter.  They both understood each other and my daughter approached her year 12 maths exam with so much more certainty and knowledge.  We won't know for a while yet, the result of the exam but my daughter feels very confident about it.

WE are very happy with Jades work with Tanisha, Tanisha is very comfortable with Jade.  Tanisha has improved with her maths so far thanks to Jades help.
