I believe tutoring helps students develop a genuine love for learning. There are 2 characteristics a tutor needs to achieve this. Firstly, the tutor should have an open and friendly personality. Learning is inherently effortful, and having someone friendly to guide the process makes it more enjoyable and productive. Additionally, tutors need to…

Firstly to help them understand something that they may be scared or ashamed of not knowing. Also, to help teach special small techniques to quicken solutions. I'm super open and friendly and have a lot of patience, so I can sit and understand what the problem is before rushing and forcing the student to hop…

As aforementioned, I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them to boost their self-confidence by improving their self-efficacy skills :) As a tutor, I think my biggest strength is the ability to give thorough constructive criticism, whilst still being kind and respectful. Furthermore, I am good at explaining…

To instill the knowledge and confidence for the student to continue unaided throughout their intelectual journey. I have a large amount of teaching experience, both as a tutor and a high school teacher. In total my experience is 8 years of tutoring so far. I believe my strengths would be quickly picking up any concepts that may be new or…

Good Morning, Thomas started tutoring Jaxon at the beginning of this year as he was struggling in the essential subjects last year. We attended his Teacher/parent in March and his teacher was concerned about his progress. What a difference Thomas has made. His school report this week was a major climb in both marks a comments. Jaxon adores Thomas and thrives on his postive teaching skills to him. Please pass on a huge Shoutout to him.

Inside PriestdaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ben focused on area and volume calculations for both 2D and 3D shapes, along with converting between measurement units.

In Year 10, Lily tackled compound interest problems and practised applying the sine and cosine rules to non-right-angled triangles using her calculator.

For Year 11, Ethan worked through linear regression by creating scatter plots and finding trend line equations, then explored bivariate data analysis including correlation coefficients.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student began the lesson without a notebook or working calculator, which delayed progress in algebra tasks ("his calculator seems flat").

In Year 10, a science report draft lacked clear structure, making it difficult to communicate findings.

For a senior student in Methods, reliance on technology for seasonal indices meant handwritten solutions were incomplete—when asked to "show working by hand," steps were skipped and accuracy suffered.

One Year 12's assignment planning stalled because the scope was unclear; as the tutor noted, "clarify with teacher the scope of assignment and work on the data." This left critical data analysis unfinished before the deadline.

Recent Achievements

One Priestdale tutor noticed a real shift with a Year 10 student who used to guess through compound interest problems—now, he's setting up equations on his own and correcting earlier mistakes in percentage calculations.

A Year 12 student, previously hesitant to plan ahead, worked out a personalised study schedule for the holidays and mapped out revision topics for their ATAR exam without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who'd struggled with 3D shapes became much more engaged after using hands-on props; she successfully explained how to draw 2D views from those models by herself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Everything seems to be going well so far. Karl seems super smart and very friendly and Gabriel gets along with him well.

Jacques seems quite happy with the 3 weeks tutoring he has had and when asked says he is enjoying the lessons. So a good start.

Sophie is responding to Rounak very well. Rounak is a great teacher and Sophie gets along well with him. We're all very happy!
