Encourage them to pursue their dreams. Teach them to be lifelong learners. I believe you have completely understood the concept when you can simplify it entirely. So, the student should totally grasp the concepts at hand. A tutor can help the student realize their passions, and help them achieve it. Making the students interested in the subject by…

This means adapting lessons to their learning style, helping them gain confidence, and encouraging them to think critically. Effective communication is key, as it allows students to express concerns and receive helpful feedback. Regularly…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is understand the student’s point of view and teach in a fun, engaging way that makes it easier for them to learn. Tutors should have a genuine interest in helping their students learn. My strengths are that I have experience as a tutor, I’m friendly and patient, and because I was recently a high…

I think the most important stuff a tutor can do is boost confidence to students. You have to make students believe they can tackle anything. It's also about giving tips on studying and problem-solving that fit them perfectly. Making learning fun and showing why it matters in real life—gets them to learn more. I think my strengths as a tutor are…

I think that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make that student interested in what they are learning. Although students may not enjoy every aspect of what they're learning, if they can find even one thing that they enjoy, this could be enough. I am patient, determined, and kind to those that I tutor. So, I think that…

Provide a safe space for the student to make mistakes without judgement. They don’t always have this at school with their peers looking on. Provide high level materials that don’t just duplicate those from school or in generic books. I really think about the resources we use to make sure they are the right level, challenging and have stretch…

Over the years, I have developed the opinion that the teaching of transferable skills - contrary to only what is needed at the moment - is most valuable for the student’s future development. It is important to see that just completing the mandatory homework will not suffice, the real challenge is to change the mindset. As a good tutor, one has…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage them to be self-sufficient - I'm a firm believer that anybody can study by themselves, and that tutors are there to help the student bounce ideas off and help break down hard to digest pieces of education. I think a good tutor needs to first and foremost be able to understand the level of their student in order to help them improve. I also think that being able to re-explain mathematical theories and concepts in alternative ways is essential in helping students to fully comprehend the subject. I feel patience is key, but a good tutor also needs to…

The most important thing in my opinion is to not only be able to guide students to the correct answer, but also make them feel accomplished and enjoy the process of knowing nothing to all the knowledge they need in school. A great tutor does more than just teach—they empower, guide, and inspire students to reach their full potential. A tutor’s goal isn’t just to help with immediate challenges but to equip students with the skills to solve future problems on their own. Many students, especially women and minorities in STEM, face imposter syndrome. A great tutor…

Great service, fantastic tutors, always punctual and pleasant.

Inside Queens ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Liam focused on fraction arithmetic and reading comprehension, using short texts to practice extracting key information.

For Year 8, Chloe worked through linear equations involving substitution as well as area and volume calculations for basic geometric shapes.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Noah revised quadratic equations—covering both factorisation methods and decomposing linear terms—to build confidence with more complex algebraic manipulation.

Recent Challenges

In recent Year 9–11 maths sessions, Aaron's working was frequently disorganised and incomplete, with steps missing or muddled—"working needs work, messy and without proper order nor structure."

During algebra tasks, he often copied algorithms without understanding the logic behind each step, which led to persistent calculation errors and confusion when context changed.

In senior-level geometry and trigonometry, over-reliance on memory instead of methodical reasoning caused mistakes; for example, Aaron sometimes guessed at answers or "forgot everything ratio" if a question mixed topics.

When tired or frustrated, he would abandon questions prematurely rather than attempt a systematic approach.

Recent Achievements

One Queens Park tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's approach to tricky algebra: after weeks of rushing through calculations and making errors, he's now writing out each step and catching mistakes himself—something he avoided before.

In Year 11, another student who used to quietly guess at answers in probability lessons has started asking clarifying questions whenever she gets stuck, which is new for her and shows real initiative.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who once hesitated during reading time now volunteers to read aloud and explains how she draws conclusions from the text.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Waverley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Moriah College.
