Helping students to learn and progress in a way which suits their learning style and ways of thinking is an important thing tutors can do for students. If a chemistry tutor can adapt to this I believe the student will learn both with more efficiency and more enjoyment. This enjoyment is also of great importance to help students come to a love of…

A tutor should take the time to understand each student's unique strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, and goals. This enables the tutor to tailor their teaching approach and materials to meet the student's specific needs. Moreover, a chemistry tutor should encourage active learning by engaging students in discussions, asking questions, and…

The most important things a chemistry tutor can do are to understand the student’s individual learning needs, build their confidence, and provide clear guidance. A good tutor should encourage questions, offer constructive feedback, and help students develop strong study habits so they can succeed independently, not just in exams but in long-term…

Inside RichmondTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sienna practised the split and compensation strategies for addition and subtraction, along with revising multiplication tables up to 12.

In Year 10, Justin focused on analysing film techniques in "Whale Rider" and developing structured paragraphs for his essays using a simplified writing strategy.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Chitleen worked through persuasive essay structures, including crafting strong introductions and body paragraphs about "Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence," while also exploring language and film analysis techniques.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student's homework was frequently incomplete, with a tutor noting, "procrastination meant key practice was missed in maths."

In Year 10 algebra, progress slowed as he often worked through equations very slowly and hesitated to check his steps—extra time was lost retracing calculations.

A senior student struggled with calculator reliance during trigonometry; when the calculator malfunctioned, problem-solving stalled completely.

Meanwhile, in Year 5 English, overcomplicated sentence structures and missing periods made written work hard to follow: "he needs to simplify ideas and use periods correctly," observed one tutor. The result—clarity suffered and feedback couldn't be easily actioned.

Recent Achievements

One Richmond tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after weeks of hesitating to ask for help, started raising her hand and seeking clarification on trigonometry problems—something she used to avoid by guessing.

Another win came from a high schooler who'd been struggling with essay structure; he now drafts his introductions independently and applies feedback without needing reminders.

Meanwhile, a younger student who previously took ages to put ideas on paper is now able to express thoughts much faster, finishing story drafts in half the time it once took him.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I'm really happy with my tutor Karen which has helped me a lot with my work so far, she really does help me with my errors and to understand my topic and it has made a difference to my learning and I'm more ahead of the class now. I would really like to thank this company for letting me try and push my ability to my greatest. I hope the rest of year stays the same and once again thank it had made a big difference.

Jade has settled in really well with Sangdi, and has told me that she feels she is learning and understanding new things each time they have a meeting. I am also happy with Sangdi as I can see that he has already made progress with Jade.

Holly has stated that Jennifer her tutor is helping her with her Maths. She is certainly in a better frame of mind with Jennifer than when either myself or my husband had tried to help in the past. Early days yet but looking positive.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Richmond Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Richmond Public School.
